    Litterbox Cookies
    
    There are two flavors-chocolate, and gingerbread.
    The cookies are dense and not very sweet, this is necesssary
    so that they will keep their shape during baking.  If you use white
    flour
    or sugar they may be tastier but they won't look like shit.
    
    Chocolate ingredients:
    
    1/2 cup honey
    2/3 cup (1 and 1/3 stick) butter or margarine
    1 egg
    1 tsp vanilla or peppermint extract
    2 cups whole wheat flour
    grape-nuts(tm) cereal
    
    Gingerbread ingredients:
    
    1/4 cup honey
    1/4 cup molasses
    2/3 cup(1 and 1/3 stick) butter or margerine
    1 egg
    2 and 1/3 cups whole wheat flour
    spices-ginger, cinnamon, cloves to taste(maybe 1/2 tsp each)
    grape-nuts(tm) cereal
    
    Mix-ins:
    
    coconut
    chocolate chips
    butterscotch chips
    peanut butter chips
    
    To make:
    Microwave the honey till it bubbles(about 1 minute). add the butter,
    and
    the molasses, if any.  Add the egg, mix well, then mix in all the other 
    stuff. A dd mix-ins of your choice to some or all of the batter.
    
    Chill 1 hour in the freezer or several hours in the fridge.  Roll dough 
    logs of random length and the diameter of cat poops.  Roll logs in
    grape-
    nuts and bake at 350 degrees till done (10 to 15 minutes).
    
    Serve in a disposable cat litter box on a bed of grapenuts, with a cat
    litter scoop.  You get lovely effects by decorating the box and scoop 
    with melted chocolate or pudding.

    Dirt Cake
    
    1 medium-size flower pot (about 8 inches in diameter works well, or
      use two small pots about 6 inches in diameter).
    1 garden trowel.
    3 large gummy or plastic worms (optional [optional?  no way!]).
      Plastic flowers.
    1 16-ounce bag Oreo cookies.
    1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened.
    1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened.
    1 cup confectioners' sugar.
    1 teaspoon vanilla.
    2 4-serving-size boxes instant chocolate-fudge flavor pudding [a
      penciled-in note on the recipe claims vanilla is better]
    3 cups milk.
    1 12-ounce tub whipped topping, thawed.
    
    Crush cookies until they resemble potting soil, set aside.
    Cream butter, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth and
    fluffy.  Set aside. Combine pudding mix and milk until well
    blended, then fold in the whipped topping.  Gently fold cream cheese
    and pudding mixtures together.
    
    To put the cake together, layer 1/3 of the cookie crumbs followed
    by 1/2 the pudding mixture, 1/3/ of the crumbs, the rest of the
    pudding mixture and topping with the remaining cookie crumbs.
    Refrigerate 10 to 12 hours.  About 1/2 hour before serving, remove
    from refrigerator and decorate with flowers.  Serve by digging out
    portions with the trowel.  Serves 10 to 12.

    Well we had a get together, 6 adults and 7 kids aging 8 -12.  I made
    these litter box cookies.  Only my husband and I knew about it.  I set
    the box under the table we put our pizzas on and one of the mothers
    goes can I move the kitty box, I said sure.  So she put it in the front
    room where the kids where playing.  We started eating, then the kids
    went back to playing and one of the boys says can we move this kitty
    box it stinks!  At this point I'm dying so I go and pick it up and said
    to the kids, hey did you ever want to try this?  One of the boys says
    if you try it I'll give you $10.00.  So of course at this point I'm
    paying this to the tilt.  So I tried it, gagged then said these aren't
    really that bad.  The kids are screaming and now all the adults are in
    the room looking at my like I've had too much to drink.  
    
    One hour later (yes, I played it that long) I finally told them.  It
    was too good to pass up!

    PS.  the cookies are dry and really have no taste, so the gagging part
         was actually real!
    
    

    RE: the dirt cake ..
    
    I have a recipe that is similar, but much more simple.
    
    1 lb package of oreos
    2 packages of instant french vanilla pudding
    1 qt milk
    1 lg pkg cream cheese (leave this out to soften)
    1 12 oz tub of cool whip
    
    Freeze the oreos for at least 1 hour.  Then take them and chop them up
    in a food processer (or crush them yourselves if you don't have a 
    processer).  Set the crumbs aside.
    
    Combine the rest of the ingredients (I always found it best to mix the
    cream cheese first, then the milk, pudding mix, and cool whip).
    
    Use an 8" flower pot for the serving container.  On the bottom, put a
    layer of oreos.  Then a layer of pudding mixture.  Keep layering until
    you get to the top.  Be sure that the top is COVERED COMPLETELY with
    oreos.  Refrigerate at least one hour before serving.  "garnish" with
    gummy worms, silk flowers, etc.
    
    I also had fun with this by putting it into a child's pail and used a
    shovel to serve it with.
