| I'm not sure what "finger rolls" are but one of my favorite sandwiches
is smoked turkey, hummus, sliced red peppers and grated carrott.
Also, if you are willing to stick with the standards but "spiced up",
then consider curried tuna salad (tuna, mayo or whatever you usually
use, curry powder, peas, chopped red pepper and raisins or chopped
prunes).

| Avocados are great in sandwiches. Add whatever meat you like
with it. My favs. are ham and prawns, but mushrooms go well with
it too.

| Yes, my new favorite breakfast is
toasted bread
sliced avocado (salted)
sliced *ripe* tomato (salted - my last vice is salt)
fontina cheese, sliced thin (or aged swiss)
all broiled till the cheese is melted and started to brown
Mmmmm...

| Note 1398.20 and the previous reply are similar to a sandwich I learned
from my mom.
Toast some good whole wheat bread (like Branola or Pepperidge Farm).
Spread with a little mayo and layer on it:
o Sliced avocado
o Alfalfa sprouts
o Thinly sliced cukes
o Sliced tomato
o Leaf lettuce (any kind -- don't use iceburg!)
Sprinkle with Spike seasoning, assemble, and eat!
Yum. It's so delicious...! We call 'em "healthies".

3836.8 | What was that stuff? | SUPER::WTHOMAS | | Mon Apr 25 1994 15:37 | 15 |

A few years back in a Martha Stewart magazine (I think), I read
about a sandwich filling that I have been lusting for ever since.
Apparently it was on crusty bread and had roasted peppers, cheese,
and a bunch of other great things. You made the sandwich the night
before and with the help of some olive oil, by the next day, you had a
well marinated, blended sandwich that was supposed to be a classic for
picnics.
Does anyone know what that was (It did have an official name, I
think Italian)? Will I forever just kick myself for not cutting out the
recipe?

| Try note 2942. It's for a Muffalatta, which is probably close.

That indeed is very close (if not it) and certainly will do. I seem
to remember that the recipe I saw was meatless and there are enough
veriations in that note to make me happy for a long time. Thanks,

| Wendy,
I am a vegetarian, and make it meatless all the time. If you need more
meatless alternatives, let me know.
