| THAT'S ALRIGHT! You can't duplicate it because the stuff was sitting in
his cupboard aging for at least 5 years. :-)
Try the chili notes file on RUSURE::CHILI, killer chili is the best.
But it has lots of other recipes.
There are also a lot of notes in here, mostly in note 27. Other
references can be found in the Alphabetical index in note 5.

| Those chilli mixes are usually a combination of cayenne pepper,
black pepper, cumin, garlic powder, dehydrated onions, and possibly a
few other assorted spices. You should be able to get close by
experimenting, starting with some of the recipes you were pointed to in
.-2. You may even find something he likes BETTER.

| I recently found packets of chili mix mixed in with dry soup mixes at
Shaw's Market. Not the boxed soup mixes, but the cellophane sacks like
Aunt Millie's Real Italian Garden Lentil etc... You might try searching
those out.

| Much as I would love to do my shopping at Shaw's the cost of the plane
would probably be limiting!!!! Maybe I should have said earlier, Im in
England. But thanks for your reply.

3749.6 | Are you in Reading? | PGREEN::WARRENJ | triple choc experience | Wed Feb 24 1993 18:32 | 7 |
| Debra
Not sure where you are in England, but if you're around Reading,
possible places could be County Deli', Savacentre or some of the ethnic
shops in the Oxford Road.

| A few clues might help here, like...
Have you still got the packet in which the mixture came?
If not
Can you remember the manufacturer? e.g. Homepride, Knorr, Batchelers,
etc
Can you remember the exact name of the mix?
At the end of the day, the mixes are pretty much all of a sameness. You
could wander down an aisle and buy a few different packets and
experiment. You never know, you may find something better or more
exciting.
