3711.0. "COOKIES: No Bake Recipes" by GRANPA::TTAYLOR (undercover angel) Sun Dec 13 1992 16:19

I am searching for recipes for the following cookies, none of which I
believe are cooked or baked in the oven, but rather, refrigerator
    cookies.

    1) Peanut Butter Balls (PB covered w/confectioner's sugar & sometimes
had rice crispies inside w/ the PB). I don't believe these were
       baked.

    2) Chocolate refrigerator cookies (don't know the name, are made from
chocolate and have oats or coconut in them, I'm not sure which.
These are refrigerated and not baked.

    3) Date balls (made out of dates and rolled in either coconut or else
walnuts?) Again, these were not baked. None of these cookies were
       crisp, they were rather chewy.

All of these were desserts given when I was a young girl in the school
cafeteria. So it's 1/2 nostalgia and 1/2 looking for a simple cookie
recipe that makes we want these receipes.

Please post here if you can help!

Check out note 363.70 for a "no-bake cookie" recipe. Also note
363.96 has a wonderful date ball recipe ( I just made these last
week - they were great!). Lila

The book, Diet For a Small Planet has a recipe for something similar to
Peanut Butter Balls. I think you stiffen peanut butter with a little
dry milk & then roll in powdered sugar or coconut.

I can look up the recipe if you wish.

Try the P-B bars in note 43 -- they're addictive. Everyone always
thinks they're P-B fudge. Delicious and easy. I use the creamy P-B,
my family doesn't care for nuts.

Yes, please. It sounds like the PB balls I've eaten.

    Thanks for posting!

Blend peanut butter & honey, then work in enough powdered milk
to make mixture fairly stiff and easy to handle.

Knead in the raisins (or Rice Krispies?), distributing them evenly.

Roll into a log that is 1 inch thick and 10 inches long,

Can someone either post, or point me towards a recipie for chocolate
rum balls. A no bake variety.

I remember they take the plain chocolate wafers, butter, rum and maybe
something else. I can't remember the exact quantities.

I've got all the ingredients in the house, but can't get it together!
