Well, I am finally moving into the "House from Hell" Friday and am planning on having an unpacking party. However............... * The stove is not yet hooked up * There is no hot water Sounds like fun, huh? I wanted something simple, and I figured Pizza (can be reheated in microwave if it gets cold) and tossed salad purchased from Shaws. What else would you recommend? Chips and dips? How about something sweet? I wanted something that would be self serve and simple. dana

| When I moved into my new home - it was the first of December and
very cold. Friends of mine brought over some Dunkin Donuts and
a couple of thermos's of coffee - which got us off to a good start.

We ordered in pizza, soda's and I had chips - but if you want to
be a bit "different" you could:

Get a couple of coolers. Fill one with soda, juice and beer (if
you drink the stuff) and the other filled with dips and you could
make a Muffilatta. The recipe is in here...I'll try and find it and
post the number in another reply. It's delicious and if you had
some chips on the side - it would be MORE than enough.

For dessert. Well, so many supermarkets have their own bakery's
now - if you don't have the time to prepare anything ahead of
time - perhaps you could pick up freshly baked brownies - a box of
eclairs ... or how about some decorative cookies, pies or spicy
    breads which are also available.

Enjoy the move - it can be fun!

P.S. Have your camera handy. It's always fun to get shots of
people at a gathering - and something you can look back on
          later on.

Perhaps at Christmas - after you have settled in - take
one of the snapshots of "moving day" - have duplicates
made and insert them in their Christmas cards! People
          love getting pictures!

| Another idea (if you are lucky enough to have a chineese restaurant
around that home delivers - like in Derry N.H.) order chineese food.
You can prepare your menu in advance and call it in when you are about
ready for it. I'm sure that would surprise your frirends.
