3659.0. "BOOK: 'Best of Cooks' Cookbooks?" by SONATA::TROSE () Fri Oct 16 1992 10:27

I understand that there used to be a magazine called "Best of Cooks"
that was terrific, but has since gone belly up. I'm also told that
before that happened, they published two "Best of Cooks" cookbooks,
both of which are now out of print.

Does anyone out there have a copy of either or both of these, or
know where I might locate them? I've looked EVERYWHERE, even talked
to the old publisher on the phone, but to no avail...
    Can anyone help me?

If you can't find the books through this notesfile, you
might want to try asking a good bookstore to do an "out
of print book search" -- basically they send out a
request to a whole network of used book dealers. I don't
know where you are located, but I know the Toadstool
Book Stores in Peterborough, NH and Milford, NH offer
such a service.

Good luck in your search.

The magazine was Cooks (or, more probably, "The Cooks Magazine" or
something like that). It was around for a few years, and was very good
at the beginning, but, no doubt due to financial pressure, ended up
looking very much like Bon Appetit, Gourmet, and all of the other bland
cooking magazines on the newstands. It's discussed elsewhere in this
conference.
