Does anyone know where I can get huber grits in either the MetroWest area or in NYC? This is a barley-like grain used in soups and stews in Eastern European cooking. I haven't been able to find it in the last 20 years (I've tried the obvious health-food and grain stores), and was hoping someone might know a source. Thanks for any info.

Mike: Try calling Concord Spice and Grain late in the day when the owner is there. Perhaps they can order it for you... Which reminds me, I've been meaning to have them order a case of Hot Okra Pickles... -jp

Mike, are huber grits any relation to kasha? Peigi

No, kasha is buckwheat, but thanks. My wife asked at Concord Spice & Grain, and they showed her "Barley Grits", which she bought. It's similar, but not the same thing. I really don't know what huber grits is/are. If I get a chance, I'll try asking in BAGELS or NY.
