3588.0. "RASPBERRY CHIFFON??" by CSLALL::COMPANION () Mon Aug 03 1992 12:03

      I need help finding a recipe. My ex-husbands mother used to make
      a kind of raspberry chiffon dessert that was definitely the best
      dessert I've ever had. As you can probably guess, I can't very
      well call my ex (he's kind of nuts and that's why he's my ex!).

      All I remember is that it contained the following (no idea of qty's)

             Raspberries
             Heavy cream
             gelatin
             sugar
             egg whites (???)

     It was all whipped together and served cold.....

     Does any of this ring any bells????

     Please help as its raspberry season

     Thanks, Debbie

    Here's something close to what you describe:

    Raspberry Cream
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    1-1/2 cup raspberries
    1-1/4 cup heavy cream
    1/4 cup sugar
    2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    2 Tablespoons unflavored gelatin, softened in 1/4 cup water
    1/2 cup milk
    Pass the berries thru a nylon seive into a bowl, and add the sugar and
    lemon juice.  In a suacepan over low heat, dissolve the gelatin in the
    milk, then strain it into the rasberry pulp.  Whip the cream and add
    it to the raspberry mixture.  Fold together until thoroughly blended.
    Pour into a 4 cup mold or into dessert glasses.  Refrigerate until
    serving time.
3588.2Raspberry Cream PieFSOA::HAMILTONWed Aug 05 1992 10:4727
    Your request jogged my memory and I went home last night and looked
    through my grandmother's recipe box.  This isn't what you asked for,
    but it's wonderful.
    			Raspberry Cream Pie
    1 1/3 cups sweetened condensed milk
    1/4 cup lemon juice
    1 cup raspberries
    Pinch salt
    Baked pie shell
    1/2 cup light cream
    1/2 tbsp. lemon juice
    1 tbsp sugar
    Blend condensed milk and lemon juice and stir until the mixture
    thickens.  Fold in raspberries and salt.  Pour into the baked pie
    shell.  Chill cream well, beat with electric mixer until fairly stiff,
    fold in lemon juice and sugar.  Serve in bowl to spoon on pie.
    NOTE:  sweetened condensed milk is different from regular canned
    evaporated mill.
    can this be done with strawberries too?
    I am looking for a strawberry pie like this.  My mother had a recipe
    and I never got it.  It was a strawberry chiffon pie and I really think
    it had gelatin in it.
    Can anyone point me?
    Thanks in advance.
    My mother used to do a strawberry chiffon pie that had gelatin in it.
    It went something like:   1 graham cracker crust
    			      1 package of frozen strawberries (thawed)
    			      1 tub of kool whip (2 if you want to spread
    						  over the top)
    			      1/4 cup of sugar
    			      1/2 cup of warm water
    			      1 package of gelatin
    			      Fresh whole strawberries
    You would blend (she always used a food blender) the package of
    strawberries and the sugar, then dissolve the gelatin in the water and
    toss that in the blender.  Put mixture in a bowl and fold in the Kool
    Whip.  Spread in crust and chill for a couple of hours.  Garnish with
    fresh strawberries.
