3515.0. "APPETIZERS" by BSS::K_LAFFIN () Thu Apr 16 1992 12:31

I am looking for ideas on appetizers.
My husband is in the army and we are having a bunch of guys who are
away from their family's over for Easter. I don't want anything TOO
fancy because they won't appreciate it. I need easy stuff that will
    keep them busy.

    Thanks,

    Katrina

These are *easy* and always well-received:

Buy some of the mini-rye breads. Spread them with tomato paste,
top with grated mozarella cheese, sprinkle with oregano, and bake
in a 350 degree oven until the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.

Not necessary *Easter* fare, though :-)

Easy and will keep them busy? Have you considered serving 3 cases of
    Molson Golden with an opener?

...it always worked when my brother came home from the Navy. :)

3515.4are you making a holiday pie? try thisTLE::TLE::D_CARROLLa woman full of fireThu Apr 16 1992 14:269
When I was growing up, on Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving Mom would
always make a pie; when she made the pie crust she would make extra,
and then while we were waiting for dinner, she would simply cut the
extra pie crusts into appetizer sized pieces, put a piece of cheese
(montery jack works well) on them, fold them over and bake them till
golden. Always a hit, and not much extra work if you are making a pie
    anyway.

Trust me they have that part of it covered themselves!

I just want to say what a great help this note is. I have found a ton
of wonderful ideas thanks to your direction. This is the BEST
conference I have come upon by far.

I also learned something new (dir/title=) Thank-you so much for that
    too. Came in handy.

a short way to dir/titl=chicken is to "extract foo.txt 5.last"
which will get you the entire directory as of last weekend and
then just edit the extracted file (foo.txt) searching for
    chicken.

    Here's the command:

    		Notes> extract foo.txt 5.last

What this command does is extract the contents of the last reply to
note 5 (a complete listing of the entire file) and place these
contents into an external file called FOO.TXT. You can then search the
file FOO.TXT for note titles instead of using the DIR/TITLE command.

The search command on a single file works much more quickly:

    		$ search foo.txt chicken

I hope this is not too late.

To really keep them busy, serve nuts in the shell. Peanuts if you are
on a low budget, or mixed nuts if you can afford more and want to really
keep them occupied. Supply several nutcrackers and metal nut picks.
(And they will go well with the beer. -:)) They provide a good test of
    masculine prowess and strength. -;)
