I haven't done this in years, and since the recipe is in one of my
mother's cookbooks, I can't really post it, but...

As a teenager I used to make a Candy Cane Cake. As I remember it, it
was a white cake with finely ground candy cane added to the batter.
It was a "from scratch" cake, but I don't remember if it had less sugar
or not. The frosting was a white fluffy frosting. I remember adding
and whipping egg whites. After the cake was frosted I would sprinkle
coarsely ground candy cane on top for decoration.

I just read a recipe for candy cane cookies. You use crushed candy
canes and peppermint extract. I no longer have the recipe, but you
might try starting with a basic butter drop cookie... Good luck!

Maybe you could grind it up for icecream topping.

Make cakey brownies (as opposed to fudgy brownies) and ice them with
the standard conf. sugar/butter/milk icing. Top with crushed candy
    canes.

Save them for Valentine's Day and put crushed candy canes on top of
cupcakes for the kids Valentine parties. (on top of the frosting, that
    is).

Crush 'em and add 'em to vanilla ice cream. Add that to a chocolate
cookie pie crust. Freeze. Serve with hot fudge sauce GOBBED on each
    slice. Yum!
