3369.0. "Fire Vodka" by RDVAX::PIERSON (Rouse that rable!) Wed Dec 11 1991 18:04

I finally made the Fire Vodka recipe from page 9.55 of the net cookbook (which
is describe in an earlier, forgotten note). It's surprisingly subtle, with
a little sweetness, very nice peppercorn aroma, but not much heat. Worth
trying if the idea of drinking chilled hard liquor doesn't turn you off. I'll
probably make another bottle when this one is used up.

The original contributor (WAV14::SNIDER) couldn't find pink peppercorns when
the recipe was submitted. If you still can't find them, they're at Duck Soup
in Sudbury.

Here's the recipe from memory:

1 fifth Polish vodka (I cheated with Smirnoff)
2 tbsp Pink Peppercorns
2 tbsp sugar

1. Combine peppercorns, sugar, and 1/2 cup vodka in small saucepan.
2. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
3. Combine with remaining vodka in a clean jar.
4. Let sit for four days in a cool, dark spot. I shook mine every so often.
5. Strain back into the original bottle.
6. Put in the freezer for at least a day.
7. Serve straight in small, chilled glasses. Also rumored to be good for
Bloody Marys; I haven't tried yet.
