I didn't see this topic in here yet so... I like a good hot dog, smothered in chili. But, a good chili recipie doesn't always make a good toping, mainly because of texture. Chili should have big chunks of meat, and can be almost like soup due to the juice, while a good chili dog should have finely groung meat and very little juice.(my opinion of course). Also there are other cooked topings out there to cover hot dogs with. What I am specificly looking for is a Greek Style meat topping. When I was growing up in Pa., there was this place called Panos' New York Lunch, that made the BEST tasting hot dogs. It was a meat mixture that was finely ground beef, minced onions and, ???? 1) does anyone know how to make 'Greeks'? 2) do you have any other toppings that you like on Hot Dogs? Thanks, CP p.s. there is also the 'dog stuffed with cheese, and wrapped in bacon! Yum(and say hello to Mr. Cholesterol!)

1 lb. ground beef 1 medium onion, finely minced 1-3 tablespoons chili powder 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon cayenne (optional) 2 cups water Brown ground beef with onion. Drain. Add seasoning and mix well. Simmer for one hour or until the water is absorbed. My mother made this sauce all the time. She grew up in West Virginia and this sauce always came with a hotdog when you bought one. I like it plain, without the hotdog, on a bun. | |||||

I dated a guy who ate LOADED hot dogs: ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, chili, and cheese -- all at once! Needless to say, we usually had breath mints around..... Blah! Cara |
