Hi- A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to find myself invited to a BBQ/ reunion put on by some people who were in the Peace Corps together in Thailand. One of the dishes was something called "sticky rice" which you pick up and roll into a ball with your fingers and ate with a generous pinch of this carrot salad with fish stock and some spices(?). The salad was supposed to have papaya instead of carrot, but the right papaya was not to be had here in the states. This dish was incredibly delicious. I am looking for someplace where I can buy sticky rice as well as the recipe for the carrot (papaya) salad. I live in the central Mass area. Has anyone been to the Thai grocery store on Rt. 9 in Shrewbury? What is the name of the store? Thanks for you help! Simone

I believe I saw sticky rice at Idylwilde Farms in W. Acton. Another place to try would be the huge Oriental grocery store in Lexington center. | |||||

There are several SE Asian shops in Lowell that carry sticky rice. As for the salad ... Som Dumh? if interested I could be pursuaded to enter a recipe... /. Ian .\ |
