3132.0. "SOFTWARE: Micro Kitchen Companion" by STRATA::STOOKER () Fri Jul 12 1991 15:42

I wanted to ask if anyone has ever heard of a computer software called
Micro-Kitchen Companion. MKC is a software that was given to me and
there really wasn't a whole lot of documentation to it, just the help
file that came with it on the floppy disk. With this software, some
recipes are given, you can add recipes and then when you view recipes
you should be able to mark them, add them to a menu list and then again
add the ingredients to a shopping list. Then when you want to use a
certain recipe, you can print it out, printout your shopping list, etc.

Right now, I am adding recipes from old magazines that I have stored
for ages. I am going into the magazines and typing in the recipes that
sound good and that I may use at some time in life. I will then give
away or pitch the magazines. You can set up different file types for
whichever way you want to file your recipes. Currently I have them set
up for Chicken, Beef, Pork, Pasta, Salads, Desserts and etc.....

The only problems that I have found so far with this software, is I
can't seem to get the shopping list or menu lists to work properly.
Also I have a hard time deciding how to list some recipes. Say Beef
Stroganoff. Would you classify this under Beef or under Pasta. I
classified it under Beef, but it would be nice if the software would
allow 2 or more classifications for the recipe.

So, my question is this. Has anyone in this file heard about this soft
ware, used it and know how to make the shopping list work properly? Do
you know of any way to classify a recipe under two classifications
without having to type it in under the new classification. Any info
    would be appreciated.

Also, I looked for a topic in the file on software, but couldn't find
it. If there is already a topic somewhere on this, please let me know
    and I will move it.

    Thanks for any info...

Sarah,

I'm not familiar with MKC but you might also want to try posting this in
NAC::IBMPC and see if any of the PC users have used it...
