    Hi,

    As the summer season is coming (however, I do like them in every
    season) and one of the wedding presents we have asked (the wedding is
    on July 6th, 1991) is a cocktail shaker, I am looking for cocktail recipes,
    like margarita; daiquiry (did I spell it right, anyway I know it tasts
    great) etc. Can you help me out?

    For the perfect margarita. Put the following in a shaker with
    ice and pour strait up into a glass with a salted rim. Avoid
    sour mix like the plague, it's a communist plot.

    	3 parts Tequila
    	2 parts Rose's Lime Juice
    	1 parts Tripple Sec
    	1 lime wedge

    By the way that mix usually pours into three glasses. Reduce
    the numbers for less people.

    		Vodka and Watermelon Cooler

    	3 pounds watermelon, rind and
    	   seeds discarded and flesh cut
    	   into pieces, plus thin slices
    	   of watermelon for garnish
    	1/2 cup vodka
    	1/4 cup triple sec
    	3 tablespoons fresh lime juice

    	In a blender puree the watermelon pieces and strain the puree
    	through a very fine sieve set over a pitcher, discarding the
    	solids. (There should be about 2 1/3 cups juice). Stir in
    	the vodka, the triple sec, and the lime juice, pour the cooler
    	into long stemmed glasses filled with ice cubes, and garnish
    	each drink with a watermelon slice. Makes 6 drinks.

    Sounds great, huh?

    I made the coolers in .8 this past weekend. They were OK, but not
    outstanding. I think you need to have a VERY sweet watermelon in order
    for the drinks to have a strong melon flavor.

3093.10AL-KU-HOLIC JELL-O?MYGUY::LANDINGHAMMrs. KipFri Jun 28 1991 13:389
    I just heard at the beauty salon - of all places - that people are
    doing neat things to those Jell-O gelatin squares that alot of people
    make for their kids... Like Jell-O and Vodka???

    Sounds enticing and interesting! Anybody do this? About how much
    vodka would you put in for one small box of say orange jello?

    Rgds,
    marcia
3093.11J-E-L-L-OSALEM::ONEILLFri Jun 28 1991 13:4511

    About a cup will do. Replace the water with it. You can also put this
    in little plastic condiment cups, like you put catsup in. Then, when
    you want to eat the jello, you put them in hot water for a moment to
    loosen them up, and *pop* into your mouth.

    If you try to make the jello into squares, I think you may want to add
    a bit of gelatin, so they will hold themselves together a bit better
    than without.

3093.13Or more!!!SALEM::ONEILLFri Jun 28 1991 13:515
    You don't eat a lot of this, usually. You make it in a cookie sheet,
    or the little plastic cup I spoke of earlier, and so maybe you have
    1, 2 or 3. You aren't eating the entire cookie sheet of jello.

3093.14Rum & FruitMYGUY::LANDINGHAMMrs. KipFri Jun 28 1991 13:582

 Vodka works best. We made the stuff in college, and called it Napalme. :-)

 We used half vodka, half water (more vodka and it doesn't set right.)

 You _can_ eat yourself to a buzz. :-)
3093.16Jello ShotsNOVA::RUBINOFri Jun 28 1991 15:5411

    These are the rage at many bars, they are called jello shots, and
    are usually served in small plastic cups.

    A friend of mine made them using vodka in an ice cube tray and
    brought them to a party of mine. Very popular item!!

    Keep them cool, as they tend to melt quicker than gelatin
    made with water.

Make lime jello. replace half the water with a mixture of vodka (for kick)
and midori (for flavor) or other liqueur of your choice. Chill well. Eat.

I've actually seen this recipe - cannot remember the name, but it was wierd.
Tried it as a joke one halloween gathering of friends...the kids had cookies
and punch, the drinkers in the crowd had loaded jello. It was a success.

RE: Jello shots

My wife makes these often, and they're much better than the ones in the
bars. The key is not only adding vodka to the jello, but another flavored
brandy as well!

For example, if you use orange jello mix, add vodka and Peach Tree Schnapps.
If you use rasperry jello mix, add vodka and bluesberry schnapps.
If you use lime jello, use vodka and Midori.

Have Fun!

RE: Watermelon Coolers

You can make one without a watermelon! Try this out - its tasty!
1 part vodka
1 part midori
2 parts cranberry juice

3093.22Margarita Jello!CUPTAY::FARINATue Jul 09 1991 19:0511
    RE: Jello shots

    I make margarita jello with lime jello, triple sec, tequila, and water.
    It's great. If you make 1/2 water 1/2 liquir, though, you can get
    buzzed - it's also pretty strong tasting. I used two packages of
    jello, dissolved it in 1 cup of hot water, added two cups of cold
    water, 3/4 cup tequila, and 1/4 cup triple sec. Serve in a salt-rimmed
    clear glass bowl! Great with salt sprinkled on the top!

    re .22

    Susan, I tried your recipe! Great stuff! I may have added a bit
    too much Tequila, or was a bit too impatient, since they took
    quite a while to set up nicely. They also seem to "melt" a bit
    when left at room temperature for too long. Rather than the bowl
    I used an ice cube tray to have individual shots, em, er, portions!

3093.24Does the proof make a difference?CUPTAY::FARINAMon Jul 15 1991 19:006
    Glad you liked it! I've been wondering if the "proof" could have
    anything to do with how it sets. I don't know much about such things,
    but I've noticed differences with brands of tequila. (Now I want
    some!)
