I wish to find a cookie dropping machine (for someone with aged hands...). One of the restaurant-supply stores in Boston said something about a hand-operated machine that sold for about $1000 (a year ago), but somehow that seems like a lot for a gadget that plops cookie mix onto a sheet. I do not think I want a "cookie press", but I don't know anything about these gadgets, so maybe I do. Is there any kind of gadget that you load with cookie mix, and then either hand-crank or motor-crank to produce several dozen cookie portions? Regards, Robert.

If you are dealing with arthritis, you may want to get a battery powered press....under $100 for sure. Call Williams Sonoma in San Francisco and ask - they have EVERYTHING and it's good quality stuff...catalog mail house for yuppy cooks.

If you go with a cookie press and a simple fitting, as Diane suggests, you can, indeed, get one for under $100. If you live in the southern NH area, Kitchen, Etc. had them for about $17. Lechmere often has them, too. Susan

I'm not sure if this would be easy to use with arthritic hands, but I've also seen a "cookie scoop" that looks similar to an ice cream scoop but smaller. It has a lever on the side that when pushed/ slides the dough out into a ball-shaped drop on the cookie sheet. I believe William-Sonoma has them as well as other chef's catalogs. I've even seen them in the kitcehn shops in the malls in 2 different sizes. Debbie |
