2939.0. "Sesame Chicken" by PAXVAX::MCGRAY () Thu Feb 28 1991 11:18

    Does anyone have a recipe for Crispy Sesame Chicken? I had some
    in a chinese/mandarin restaurant over the weekend and it was
    really great... it was kind of a sweet, sticky coating on chicken with
    sesame seeds all over. I think I had something like this at
    the Royal Mandarin in Marlboro a few years ago.

    Thanks!

    And one more -

    Sesame Chicken

    4 Boneless chicken breast cut in 1" chunks
    8 T soy sauce
    4 t sesame oil
    2 T honey
    2 T lemon juice
    2 T fresh ginger grated
    2 grn onions chopped
    6 T sesame seeds toasted

    Mix half of the soy sauce and sesame oil and pour over chicken and marinade
    briefly.

    Place chicken on prepared skewers - grill over charcoal 5-10 minutes.

    Make a sauce from the remaining soy sauce and sesame oil, honey,
    ginger, lemon juice and green onions. When
    chicken is done, remove from skewers and pour the sauce over the
    cooked chicken - refrigerate 2 hours or over night. Serve cold or
    hot. To serve hot reheat in 350 degree oven. Sprinkle with toasted
    sesame seeds.

2939.6CLOSE! but not quite...PAXVAX::MCGRAYMon Mar 04 1991 10:2213

    I tried .3's recipe over the weekend. Really good! but not
    quite what I had in mind. The Sesame Chicken I had was much
    sweeter and stickier.. Very dark and thick. and the chicken
    was actually crispy underneath the coating. Perhaps if I try
    adding more molasses in .3's recipe that might help.

    The taste kind of reminded me of an appetiser I had in a Thai
    restaurant in Boston once... it was thin pieces of beef, kind
    of chewy, with a sticky sweet coating. Don't think it had
    sesame seeds, but that thick sticky sauce was on it.

    Anyone else got a clue?
