2788.0. "Hors d'oeuvres: Shrimp, Crabbies" by TRLIAN::VAIL () Mon Dec 10 1990 07:58

There was a recipe floating around in the past year for an hors
d'ouevre in which you had a shrimp mixture which you spread on
pieces of pita bread and them broiled for a minute or so.
I had it at a party and later saw it in the Nashua Telegraph
Food Section. I thought I cut out the recipe, but now I can't
find it. Is there anyone out there would might know the recipe
    or something like it?

I wanted to serve it this weekend.

    Thanks,
    Nancy

well nancy, i hope you find what your looking for. if by any chance
you don't, there is a recipe in this file somewhere called 'crabbies'
which might be o.k. for you seein' how your booked for time.

i don't have the exact amounts but its with a can of good crabmeat,
cream cheese, old english cheese spread and garlic powder. this is
smeared upon english muffins (or put in between cresent rolls -- my
version) and broiled until brown. oh yes, there is a tablespoon or
two of margerine in the english muffin version. if you want to make
the rolls then omit the butter. anyways... you could use chopped
    shrimp instead of the crabmeat.

similar maybe to what your looking for?

if i find the note i'll reference it but a dir/title of appetizer might
    help you.

    good luck!

The more decadent version of crabbies calls for:

    1 stick butter
1 can good quality crab meat
    1 and 1/2 tsp. mayo
    1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    1/2 tsp. Lawry's seasoned salt

    (still to 6 muffins)
