This is a great snack - kids love it, adults too. PIZZA BUTTER 1 pound soft butter or margarine 1 (6 oz.) can Tomato Paste 1 (8oz.) Package shredded Mozzarella Cheese 1 tsps. Sugar 2 tsps. Oregano 5 or 6 shakes Garlic Powder Mix all ingredients together and spread on English Muffins. Place under broiler til bubbly. Keeps forever in the freezer and several weeks in the refrigerator. I sometimes quarter the English Muffins and serve as an appetizer. Enjoy!!

A pound of butter or margarine is... 4 wholle sticks, right? 1 (6 oz) is a very small call of tomato... or you meant 16 ounces? I would find the above too rich in calories and cholesterol (butter/cheese combination). Do you melt the butter or just plain mix it (cold) with the tomato paste? does it incorporate or do the yellow fatty particles show thru the tomato? I know that once grilled it'd be all melted and absorbed into the bread, but before, how does it look? | |||||

IN REPLY TO .1 I know the amount of ingredients sounds strange, but they are exact. Note that it states "soft" butter or margarine. It blends very easily. You could use the "no cholesterol"margarine to cut down somewhat but that won't do much for the fat content. This recipe really stretches far as you don't need to use to much on each English Muffin. Try it, I think you'll be surprised. Let me know. |
