2589.1 | Grist Mill in Sudbury. | MILPND::DACOSTA | | Mon Aug 27 1990 10:01 | 7 |
| When I visited the Grist Mill on the Sudbury, Marlboro line off of
Rte. 20 last year, they were grinding and selling rye, barley, and
corn. I was told that they grind a different type of grain every
week. If all else fails, you may want to take a ride there.

2589.2 | Some sources | REORG::AITEL | Never eat a barracuda over 3 lbs. | Mon Aug 27 1990 11:31 | 12 |
| I've gotten rye and whole wheat at the local grocery stores in
Nashua and Merrimack. You can get some grains in the cereal
aisle - cornmeal is sold with hot cereals, as are grits. I've
gotten other grains at health-food stores. Don't know if the
one in Marketplace Shops, DW highway, South Nashua is still
there, but there's one in Northern Merrimack in the small shopping
plaza south of Agway on rt 3. There are probably health-food
stores close to your town - try the yellow pages. Also, don't
overlook ethnic stores - the East-west store in Lamplighter had
a lot of grain and bean flours last time I was there.

2589.4 | Shaw's? | JURAN::TEASDALE | | Mon Aug 27 1990 14:22 | 4 |
| Try the new Shaw's on Rt 85 in Hudson. Their other stores have a good
selection of natural foods so I assume this one does as well.

2589.5 | Shaws had several sorts of flour | CADSYS::HECTOR::RICHARDSON | | Tue Aug 28 1990 10:59 | 5 |
| I noticed that the new Shaws had barley flour (which is DELICIOUS) and
oat flour, but I didn't offhand notice rye flour - all I needed in that
section was unbleached regular flour, and I was in a bit of a hurry.

2589.6 | Countryfare Star-Stow | FSOA::LCHESTER | | Wed Jul 17 1991 12:29 | 4 |
| I spent hours last weekend trying different supermarkets looking
for rye flour and came up with it in Stow at Countryfare Star
on Rte. 117. Bought 4 bags and will freeze three. It is hard
to find.

| I didn't know you could freeze flour. Does it change at all?

| Concord Spice & Grain in Concord, Ma. on Thoreau St. across from the
train station ALWAYS has rye flour, along with many other flours like
rice, soy, corn, wheat, etc.

| I've read that whole-wheat flours are more apt to spoil, and should be
kept frozen if they're not going to be used up quickly. It takes me a while
to go through a 5-lb. bag, so I store mine in the freezer in Tupperware.
The flour doesn't change a bit. I store whole wheat and rye.
But then, of course, my father-in-law pooh-poohed the need for freezing
flour.

2589.10 | SEMOLINA (or semoulina, sp?)
| DECLNE::TOWLE | | Wed Jul 24 1991 17:51 | 3 |
| I;m going to have to check out Harry's Market here in GA to see if they
have semolina flour to use when making home-made pasta. Any local
Georgians know if Harry's carries this?

I'd bet Harry's has it. If not, I _know_ that the Farmer's Market
does.
