2537.0. "Nestle's Banana flavored Quik" by MYCKEY::ROMAN (Linda) Fri Jul 27 1990 16:50

	I thought this would be a good place to ask this.
I 've been looking for Nestle's Banana flavored Quik. (It's
a flavoring for milk). I've seen chocolate and strawberry,
but not banana. I even called the Nestle's 800 phone number,
but all they did was send me a coupon and told me they'd
have the area representative contact me, which he never did.
	If anyone has seen Banana Quik, please let me know.
I live in eastern Massachusetts. But I'll provide the postage
money etc. from farther away. I really would like to try
this stuff. Banana is my favorite flavor.

Thanks for any help,

Linda

2537.1Banana and milk--simple!JURAN::TEASDALEMon Jul 30 1990 12:099
    Have no idea about the Quik, but if you throw 1/2 - 1 banana in the
    blender with a glass of milk, you've got the same, only better. More
    than just a spoon to wash but without the added sugar.

    I used to live on shakes for breakfast. I would use several different
    combinations of milk or yogurt, banana, orange juice and/or wheat germ.
    Sure beat cooking in the morning.

my breakfast secret:

peel ripe banannas and wrap individually in freezer wrap (keeps ice crystals
down to a minimum) and throw all in plastic freezer bag and freeze for at
least 12 hours.  For breakfast:

mix 1 cup skim milk with one FROZEN bananna, add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Blend in blender and you get a sinfully rich MILK SHAKE, thick, cold and
satisfying.

I also add a frozen bananna to the "liquid meals" like SLIM-FAST for a
quick dinner after my workout. I use 1 and 1/2 cups skim milk, 1 serving
of the Ultra Slim Fast chocolate or strawberry powder, and one frozen bananna...
turn into thick FRAPPE in blender and eat a satisfying dinner for approx.
400 calories.

   Try this:

    	-  One Banana
    	-  Milk
        -  Vanilla Ice Cream
        - Tablespoon of Malt Powder [I can't remember the name of this
           product that I used to buy all the time when I was younger,
           but it comes in regular malt flavor and chocolate]

    ...blend together and you have a great shake!

    YES, YES!    OVALTINE!

    If I weren't on a diet :-{ I'd pick some up at the market on the way
    home tonight!  Love that stuff!
2537.7No. Ovaltine is not malt flavoring.ACETEK::TIMPSONEat any good books lately?Wed Aug 01 1990 14:495
Ovaltine is a drink that is flavored with Malt. Malt flavoring can be purchase
at any grocer. I think Carnation makes it. Not real sure. This is the stuff
that is used to make a Malted Milk Shake.

2537.8How 'bout with lo-fat milk?MYGUY::LANDINGHAMWed Aug 01 1990 16:423
    I don't know how fattening Ovaltine is, really. I guess mixed with 1%
    or 2% Lo-Fat milk, it wouldn't be that bad... Hmmm, maybe I will add it
    to my grocery list.

  IMHO, Horlick's malt powder is better than Carnation. You can get it at
oriental groceries - good deals in China Town, especially!

    I guess nobody knows where you can get BAnana-flavored Quik; the rest
    of the folks in this note have had to resort to using actual BANANAS
    to try and imitate the flavor, how awful! ;^)

    Sometimes I like fake junky foods even better than the real thing!

    Malt, did someone say malt? I had a sundae at Deerings ice cream shop
    at the Royal Ridge Mall that was absolutely incredible. It was coffee
    ice cream covered with hot fundge, with a generous helping of malt powder
    on top.

    It was orgasmic.

    I'll keep a lookout for the Banana Quik.

    Of course, I'm in California. Are you willing to have it shipped that
    far??

    I've also seen banana extract in the baking section in the grocery
    store. You could always experiment with that too.

    	As of Saturday, 3 November, the Demoulas/Market Basket in
    	Londonderry, New Hampster carried banana Quik.

    	I assume their other stores will also.
