    Try your local hardware store or KMart.

    Also, they sell them at Shaws and Aubuchon's and perhaps Ames Dept.
    Stores. The most popular I believe are Ball Jars.

    They even sell them in supermarkets when it gets closer to the season.
    Ask at the supermarket, they may have them in stock now.

2473.4On canning jar lids...NITMOI::PESENTIOnly messages can be draggedFri Jun 22 1990 09:0020
If you buy classico tomato sauces, they come in Atlas jars. It's up to you if
you want to recycle the jars for canning use. It's a good use for the glass.

The important part is to save the lids after they have been washed thouroughly.

Don't use the lids for canning. Use the separate rings with sealers that are
recommended.

However, once you open the preserved stuff, you can toss the sealer lid, and
use the top from the sauce. It's much easier to deal with a solid lid than a
two parter.

Although we do not do any canning, we often get canned odss and ends from
friends. Often, they do not have the screw part of the lid attached, just the
sealer. The sauce lids come in REAL handy in this case... no more spills in the
fridge.

I've given a pile of these to the friends who do the canning. Now they remove
the screw part of the 2 part lid and screw on the sauce cap OVER the canning
seal.

    I got mine at the Victory in Leominster, but I was at spags last
    weekend and saw them there. they come in 2 different sizes. I brought
    the small ones last year when I made peach jam. It came out pretty
    good this year I may make some strawberry jam or orange marmalade
    depending on how ambishis (sp) I am, and how good my 7 1/2 month old
    son is.

2473.6careful with Classico lidsBUFFER::SOWENmajor dried toads (todo sera mejor)Sat Jun 23 1990 02:257
	Be very careful using Classico lids when storing things in the
jars. I have found that the smell/flavor of the spaghetti sauce
lingers through many washings and soakings in hot water. Some foods
may pick up unwanted flavors from these lids.
