I did a DIR/KEYWORD=OATMEAL and only came up with two topics of which
weren't the long lost receipe I am desperately searching for.
I used to make an oatmeal type cookie/candy that consisted of some
of the following ingredients, but lost the receipe so I don't have
quantities or other ingredients I may be missing. If your familiar
with this cookie/candy please include your receipe here!
What I can remember:
You would heat Karo syrup up, and butter and I think brown suger and
possibly some other stuff. You would have to get the temperature
to heat to correct or it would harden. Then you would add hersheys
unsweetned chocolate (powder) and the oatmeal. Then you spoon it
on to wax paper and it makes MARVELOUS chocolate oatmeal candy. Can't
really call it a cookie. Its somewhat chewy and not to rich...
If you have the receipe I'm searching for I will be indebted to you!
Thanks - Karen

Could you be talking about no-bake cookies, which taste more like candy
than cookies? My recipe for these uses sugar, cocoa, peanut butter,
oatmeal, and you do cook the syrup part before adding the oatmeal. I
doubt that these are what you're looking for, but it might be something
to try then modify if close!

Cocoa Oatmeal Cookies
_____________________
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup milk
2 cups sugar
Bring above ingredients to a boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat
and stir in 3 cups quick cook oatmeal. Spoon on wax paper or
buttered pan. Refrigerate until hardened.
These are chewy and more like candy than cookies.

We call them POODLES... (kind of remind you of poodle fur)
If you cook them longer 5-6 minutes, they will harden in about
5-10 minutes on the counter and be more like a cookie.
Yum!
