Ann,
I have a couple (the Madhur Jaffrey book I've quoted here is good, but I have
another that is exclusively Thai). There is also one in a series published by
an Australian Women's Magazine that gives everything (instructions, dish
names, ingredient names etc) in English, but since I buy my/our ingredients
in a Thai grocers that isn't very helpful so I didn't buy that one.
However I'm in Britain and you, I think, are Stateside. It is possible therefore
that you'd have to find a good bookstore that could (possibly) import them.
If you're interested I'll post the titles, authors and ISBNs of the books so
you can try and track them down.

| Here's three:
This one's all Thai:
Crawford, William and Kamolmal Pootaraksa, *Thai Home-Cooking From
Kamolmal's Kitchen*, New York: North American, 1985. Paperback
list price is $8.95.
These two contain quite a few good Thai recipes:
Brissenden, Rosemary, *Joys and Subtleties: South East Asian Cooking*,
New York: Pantheon (Div of Random House), 1970.
Ng, Dorothy, *Favourite Asian Meals*, Singapore: Times Books, 1953.

2202.3 | Another Thai Book | CSOA1::SCHWARTZ_F | North Coast, U.S.A. | Sat Feb 17 1990 07:56 | 9 |
| I've used the following cookbook with good results:
"Pojanee Vatanapan's Thai Cookbook with Linda Alexander",
copyright 1986, published by Harmony Books, a division of
Crown Publishers, Inc. NY, NY
I believe that I found it on the shelf in a bookstore devoted to
cookbooks.

| I have been asked for a few "fish" recipes, so I'll include them as replies
to this.
These recipes are taken from "Thai Cooking Class" by Somi Anuntra Miller &
Patricia Lake, Published by Bay Books in the "Better Living" series
ISBN is 1-86256-073-0
These recipes are Australian, so 1 cup = 250ml and 1 tablespoon = 20ml.
I find these recipes well written, but they are perhaps a little underspiced
for those used to full-blown Thai cooking. Feel free to increase (or decrease)
spice to taste.

IT IS LIKE A CHICKEN BROTH BASE WITH MUCHROOMS AND SOME SORT OF LEMON
GRASS ADDED. I TRIED THIS AT A THAI RESTAURANT IN FORT WORTH TX AND
JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

| There are a bazillion Thai recipes posted here, including, I think, the one
you're looking for, which if I'm not mistaken is called Tom Ka Kai. Take a
look in the conference directory posted in the early notes.
