2129.1 | Great Gift!! | SELL3::ELKINS | | Thu Nov 30 1989 15:00 | 11 |
| Ali.....
I have the previous version, and love it!! The books are called The
Silver Palate Cookbooks. I believe the new ones sell in a set of two
books, and I believe it only comes in soft copy.
What a wonderful gift!!
Good luck!

2129.2 | The New Basics from Silver Palate | AKOV12::DUGDALE | | Fri Dec 01 1989 08:47 | 11 |
| The new Silver Palate is called something like "The New Basics." I
don't think it is available in hardcover. I bought one for a Christmas
present at The Toadstool Bookshop in Milford, NH (near the new Shaw's)
last week. The list price is $19.95, but it is about 3 inches thick.
It looks pretty good, but I haven't really spent alot of time going
through it -- after all I don't want it to look used! However, I did
hint to my husband that it might not be a bad thing to find in my
stocking.

2129.3 | it is available in hardcover | SME::ELBEERY | Susan Elbeery DTN 381-0561 | Fri Dec 01 1989 09:13 | 5 |
| I saw the book in at least two bookstores in hardcover, for ~29.95.
I *think*, but can't recall for sure, that I saw it in Booksmith in
the Pheasant Lane Mall (in hardcover, that is).

2129.4 | When is the silver palate not the silver palate? | BANZAI::FISHER | Pat Pending | Fri Dec 01 1989 14:00 | 8 |
| It has a cover format that looks like the Silver Palate but does not
say Silver Palate. In the introduction it explains how and why the
authors sold "The Silver Palate" and how they got to "The New Basics."
I think it will still forever be known as "The Silver Palate
Basics-whatever" which should help it sell.
