1832.0. "STORE: New SUPER STOP & SHOP" by LDP::S_LEVIN (Die-Hard Bruins Fan!!) Wed Jun 21 1989 11:22

For those of you in the central Mass. area, I have some good news.
I went grocery shopping last night at the new Super Stop and Shop,
Route 9, in Westboro (by BJ's, formerly the Westboro Speedway).
    This store looks terrific!

Their produce area is HUGE. They have all kinds of fresh herbs
(including cilantro) and many, many "organically grown" vegetables
and fruit (for the same price as the regular kind). They also have
a tremendous variety of unusual fruit, some I'm familiar with, like
cumquats, and a lot I'm not. They do have a lot of fruits and
vegetables that I have seen in recipes before and thought, "What's
    that?".

They have a fish market with one of the best selections of all kinds
of fish I have seen in a long time, again with reasonable prices.
    They also have a bakery.

This store just opened this week, replacing the one in Westmeadow
Plaza. It also has many items not usually found in grocery stores,
which makes for a lot of walking when you are just shopping for
food, but I highly recommend you take a look. As I said, the produce
and fish sections were most impressive, especially for variety,
but they also have large gourmet food, diet food, health food and
natural food sections. They even have a large stand where they will
make fresh juices from just about any kind of fruit you want.

As it was, my daughter and I spent 1 hours there and we really
didn't get to browse. Being a Tuesday, it wasn't very crowded, but
we didn't have the time to spend.

If you live in the area, check it out. I would be interested in
what everyone else notices so that when I go back, I'll know what
    else to check out.

    Hi,

Did you notice if they have fresh basil?
Did the 'unusual' fruits have labels on them? So you'd know what
they were? More often than not, I see something, but don't know
what it is and don't know how to eat it, so I pass by.
     Thanks for the notice!

1832.2Key limes!!LDP::S_LEVINDie-Hard Bruins Fan!!Thu Jun 22 1989 10:3710
Yes, they did have fresh basil along with several others. As far
as the fruit goes, I only wish I could remember the names but they
were not all fruits that I recognize. Some were, however, once again
they were unusual and I don't remember. Each section containing
a fruit was labeled. Also, there were a lot of "miniature" fruits
and vegetables. One nice thing, they sold key limes by the bag.
                                              ---------
    That's a treat!
