| < Can anyone please tell me where I can find a cake decorator bag?
< I went yesterday to several stores but did not find it.
<
< Any suggestions? I live in the Worcester area.
Angela,
Try Westerman's on Green St. 753-1111. This is a restaurant supply
house. Their prices tend to be a bit lower than the Gourmet stores and
their supply of basic utensils is much better.

There is a kitchen shop in the Auburn Mall, they would probably
have them. Also try Paper World, a party supply place in Worcester.
I get mine at the Gourmet Stop in Sturbridge, they have just started
stocking a complete line of cake decorating supplies.

1678.3 | rice paper or cloth? | WMOIS::L_WATERMAN | | Mon Mar 20 1989 15:40 | 9 |

Long ago when I took classes for cake decorating, we used
rice paper in place of the cloth bags. And for a beginner the
paper worked out fine. In Fitchburg there is a shop named
Cecile's Cake Decorating and Cake Supply, 614 North Main Street
(oops) in Leominster.

1678.4 | parchment? | CIMNET::GLADDING | Noters do it with a 8-) | Mon Mar 20 1989 16:16 | 11 |
| re: .3
Are you sure you don't mean parchment paper instead of rice
paper? Isn't rice paper kind of flimsy - wouldn't it break
under pressure?
I use parchment that has been cut into triangles - makes it
very easy at cleanup time. No bags to wash - just throw them
out. You can buy them in any cake decorating store.

Another place to try is 'Carousel Party Goods'
at 112 Grove Street (ph 756-2465).
My wife does some cake decorating, and has had
good luck here with all her needs..
They carry the bags, tips, and most other needs.

| When I'm in a bind, or if I only need a tiny bag (such as for chocolate
piping, etc) I make one out of paper, either cooking parchment or
waxed paper.

1678.9 | Super Mario Pan | TLE::EIKENBERRY | Don't confuse activity with productivity | Tue Feb 12 1991 12:51 | 21 |
| This past weekend, I made a Super Mario Brothers cake for my 10-year-old
cousin's birthday. It's a Wilton cake pan, with Mario (in a POW position,
according to my cousins) on the front. I had a blast making it, and the
end result was great!
I doubt that I'll ever have occasion to make Mario again, so if anyone
from COOKS would like to borrow the pan, just let me know! Great for
Nintendo junkies! You would need several tips 3 and tips 16, as well as
blue, red, yellow, and brown colorings, and 5 or 6 bags. [optionally,
copper color, too - I used it for the flesh, but you can also use a little
brown]
The red coloring is nasty stuff! ALL of my bags are now tinted pink from
the washing process! It was also amusing at the party when we realized that
everyone who had eaten a piece of cake with red icing had a VERY pink
tongue, lips, and teeth!
