1523.0. "PIZZELLE(Italian)" by MTWAIN::TRUBIANO () Mon Nov 21 1988 09:44

Italian Pizzelles are made with a Pizzele Iron. You should lightly
spray or brush grids with oil and close lid until the ready light
comes on, raise lid and drop 1 tsp batter onto center of each cookie
section. My Pizzelle Iron makes four at once. Close lid and bake
45-60 sec. or until lightly browned. Cookies are pliable and light
in color when removed from grids but will quickly become crisp and
    slighlty darker in color.

                          PIZZELLE (approx 72)

6 eggs 2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 cup veg oil 1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup margarine 1 and 1/2 tsp anise
1 and 1/2 cup sugar 2 cups flour
    1/4 cup veg shortening

Blend ingredients together, adding one at a time. Drop the batter
by the teaspoonful onto center of each cookie section. Close lid
and allow to cook 45-60 seconds or until lightly brown. Allow to
cool on wire rack or towels. Dust with powdered sugar. Cookies
may be served flat or rolled tightly into a cylinder. Cookies must
be hot during rolling and held in shape until cool.

1523.2Who makes it?BREAKR::GOHNWith the WindMon Nov 21 1988 10:409
What is the make of your iron? The one I have only makes two at
a time. I'd love to be able to cut down on the time it takes to
    make a double batch.

    Linda

    P.S. Course I don't know what I'm complaining about. I remember
watching my grandmother making them one at a time on her
          stove burner.

Toastmaster Pizzelle-International Dessert and Waffle Baker. I
believe it is on sale for about $35 at Jordan's. Yes, it sure is
nice and easy to make them because you can even sit at a table to
    prepare them.

    ENJOY!

I don't have the same pizzelle iron that you do, but mine supposedly
makes 4 at a time also.

    My problem:

They STICK to the iron and make a mess! I followed the directions
exactly but something isn't working! Any ideas?

Gee, do they all stick? Occassionally, one may stick. Perhaps
you should try adding more shortening, or experiment with a longer
    cooking time.
