1246.0. "Orange Juice & Yogurt?" by RIPPLE::TOOZE_MI () Fri Jul 01 1988 19:27

Does anyone know of a drink that includes combining orange juice
and vanilla yogurt? This would be like a breakfast drink.

    Thanks.

Don't know of a specific recipe, but just last night I experimented
with a yogurt drink - I was trying to come up with something like
the "lassi" I had at a local Indian restaurant.

The recipe I had called for plain yogurt, sugar, heavy cream, rose
water for flavor, and ice cubes. Since I didn't have any cream or
rose water, and the only yogurt I had was vanilla, I tried just
blending the yogurt with the ice cubes - and voila! A very cool,
    refreshing drink indeed.

I expect that you could try mixing a small amount of orange juice
with the yogurt until you got the consistency you wanted. Sounds
delicious, too, rather like a Creamsicle; I'll have to try this!

There was an article in yesterday's Globe about the introduction
of new products - the one they were chronicling was called 'frulait'
and is just what you describe, a mixture of juice and yogurt. The
women who started the company said they had tasted the drink in Asia
and immediately thought of marketing it here.

I'm going to try this with different kinds of juices and fresh
    fruits. Sounds great for summer.
