937.0. "Store: Lebanese Market?" by SMEGIT::BROUILLETTE (If all else fails go skiing) Tue Jan 19 1988 18:26

    I'm looking for a Lebanese grocery store and/or bakery in the
    Worcester and Lawrence MA areas. I know that there are large
    concetrations of Lebanese in these cities and am wondering if
    anyone has any first hand knowledge of any?

    thanks in advance,
    Mike B.

937.1There is one in LawrenceBOOKIE::SPAULDINGWed Jan 20 1988 13:3816
    There is a Lebanese bakery in Lawrence. I think it's on Haverhill
    street but am not sure since it's been awhile since I lived in Lawrence,
    but I do know that it is across the street from the Plains Community
    Center. Other landmraks that are further down the same street are
    Cetral Catholic High School, and some kind of correctional facility.

    They bake their bread fresh on saturday mornings and make anything
    you buy in the grocery store seem second-rate. They also have all
    sorts of lebanese pastry stuff that is yummy.

    I know that there are a coupl of lebanese grocery stores, but am
    so rusty on directions, I would hate to get you lost with them.
    ask at the bakery.

937.2In Worcester, try..MPGS::NEEDLEMANNo, my first name AIN'T baby....Fri Jan 22 1988 12:5020
	In Worcester, try Aris' Bakery on Pleasant St (corner of Bellevue
	St near Park Ave). They carry Armenian and other Mid-East delicasees.

	There's another bakery up the street from Aris's (near the corner of
	Pleasant/Russell St). Not sure of the name, but it's in the same row
	of stores as a video and men's clothing store.

	Down the street from Aris' on Pleasant St (closer to the intersection
	of Park Ave) there's a Mid-East market. They carry all kinds of
	supplies. There's another store on Pleasant St near the corner of
	Piedmont St). Don't know the name but I think they also carry
	Mid-East products.

	If you get on Pleasant St, everything is located between Park Ave and
	Piedmont Street.

	Good luck!

	Marc

937.3George's is the nameVICKI::LONGWed Feb 10 1988 09:2610
    The Lebanese Bakery your referring to is on Hampshire Street in
    Lawrence and is called George's. Right up the street from there
    is a Lebanese grocery store, within walking distance of George's,
    about 100'. When you come out of the bakery, take your right.

    If you call ahead, they will put the bread, etc., aisde for you
    but ask when they close, because if varies from day to day, usually
    when they are sold out.
