431.1 | Flavored Olive Oil | PARSEC::PESENTI | | Tue Dec 02 1986 06:54 | 21 |
| In a tall, clear, decorative bottle with a good seal place the following:
4 peeled cloves of garlic on a bamboo skewer
(make sure the garlic cloves can fit thru
the bottle neck)
A sprig of Sage, Rosemary, Thyme or similar
fragrant herb
A hot red pepper (fresh) that has been pierced
in a few places with a fork (preferably the
thin curly kind
Fill the bottle with a good quality olive oil. Let it sit at least a day
to get rid of the air bubbles that cling to the ingredients. This can be
presented with a simple ribbon around the neck (of the bottle). It looks
great just sitting near the stove and tastes even better. As the oil is
used, more can be added to keep the ingredients covered.

431.2 | Hot mustard/Hot pepper jelly | VAX4::LOMBARD | lyn | Wed Dec 10 1986 12:34 | 56 |
| I made the following mustard recipe last year for Christmas presents
and gave the recipe away several time over. It tastes much like
Nance's mustard, if you've ever had that.
HOT MUSTARD
Ingredients:
1/4 pound dry mustard 2 C. flour 3/4 C. sugar
1 T. salt 2 C. vinegar 1 egg
Procedure:
Put vinegar into blender, add rest of ingredients, and blend for
a minimum of 5 minutes.
That's it! Be sure to move it around in the blender so that all
dry mustard is reached. Makes 1 quart.
***************************************************************************
I made the following for Christmas presents this year.
HOT PEPPER JELLY
(for use over cream cheese, to be used as a cracker spread)
Ingredients:
2 C. ground/drained bell peppers (9-16 count)
2-4 T. hot chili peppers, seeds removed (5 fresh ones. Be sure they
are the hot kind and USE GLOVES to remove seeds and finely chop them.)
6 1/2 C. sugar
1 1/2 C. vinegar (cider vinegar)
1 pouch certo or other gel
Procedure:
Dissolve sugar and vinegar in large kettle. Add peppers. Cook to
rolling boil and then 1 minute longer. Add Certo. Cook 1 minute
more and if necessary skim.
Put into jars. (Makes 1 quart.)
NOTE: not wearing gloves runs the risk of skin and membrane irritation.
I learned from experience... the lips, the nose, the eyes, achhhhhhhhhhh!

431.3 | East Shore Mustard at Williams Soloma stores? | NAC::BLANCHARD | | Mon Oct 23 1995 15:46 | 14 |
| My family has taken a real liking to a sweet mustard that came in one
of those gift packages that folks give at holiday time. The one they
like is the Sweet and Tangy Mustard from East Shore Specialty Foods in
Hartland, Wisconsin.
I wrote them for their brouchure and can order directly from them, but
they indicate that it is also sold in Williams Soloma Stores. Does
anyone know of such a store in the New England area? It sounds like
something more akin to southern California. Any clues?
Thanks

431.4 | Maybe the Natick Mall? | TNPUBS::J_GOLDSTEIN | Run over on the Info Highway | Mon Oct 23 1995 16:21 | 5 |
| Williams and Sonoma (or something like that).
Isn't there one in the Natick mall? I recall seeing one somewhere in a Mass.
mall.

431.5 | 2 more locations... | SOLVIT::FLMNGO::WHITCOMB | | Mon Oct 23 1995 16:49 | 2 |
| There's one at Quincy Market (actually it's in the new building next to Quincy
Market) in Boston, and another one at the Burlington Mall.

431.6 | Thanks. | NAC::BLANCHARD | | Tue Oct 24 1995 09:56 | 9 |
| Gee, thanks. I will have to run over there on the way home some night.
I wonder if there are any in New Hampshire, we seem to have a fair
share of malls. I'll have to ask around.
Thanks again...this conference really has been a big help over the
years. I was not able to find this information on WWW.

431.7 | Nance's Sharp & Creamy | NUBOAT::HEBERT | Captain Bligh | Wed Oct 25 1995 14:04 | 5 |
| Try Nance's mustard, which is available in most of the local grocery
stores. It's sweet and mustardy at the same time. We started buying it
when we could no longer get another "honey mustard" that we like.

| Dennis:
I know for a fact that there are no Williams Sonoma stores in New Hampshire.
I get their mailorder catalog in the mail which contains a list of store
locations. I'd love it if there were! ;-)

431.9 | Thanks folks... | NAC::BLANCHARD | | Thu Oct 26 1995 11:58 | 9 |
| Gee thats strange, the catalog they sent me didn't have any store
locations. Anyway, I will try the Burlington Mall and see what
happens, if all else fails, I can mail order, just hate to pay such
high postage for such a small order.
Thanks

| 800-555-1212 ia a very useful number. I called it, asked for the
toll-free number for Williams Sonoma, and got 800-541-1262.
Called the number, waited less than a minute on hold (they played
George Winston) and found out that there are two stores in Boston (one
in the Copley Square mall), one in Chestnut Hill, and one in Burlington
(at the Burlington Mall). The Burlington number is 617-273-1114.
