| | I printed this out and brought it home for Nancy to see if she had
something in her cookbook files for you to use. She did, and here it is:
			CHOCOLATE PIXIES
Sift together 2 cups of Flour
		       2 tsp. of Baking Powder
		       1/2 tsp. of Salt
Melt together 1/4 cup of Butter
		       4 squares of Chocolate
	Let it cool and add
			2 cups of Sugar
4 eggs, one at a time
BEAT this mixture for 1 minute and THEN add
			1/2 cup of Black Walnuts
the stuff you sifted together earlier
	MIX well.
Chill it all for 5 minutes.
Shape it into balls and roll the balls in Powdered Sugar.
Bake them for 18-20 minutes on greased cookie sheets in an oven
	at 300 degrees.
	This makes 5 dozen.
Nancy says she's DYING to make this recipe with BLACK Walnuts. To
	say the least, she's envious.

| | A friend of mine (who knows I love to try new & different recipes)
happened to send me part of an article about black walnuts from the
October 1986 issue of Early_American_Life. The article lists The
Missouri Dandy Pantry as "...an excellent source of black walnut meats
by mail for those who have neither a tree in their back yard nor
the patience to dry, crack, and pick the nuts...". A catalog is
available by writing The Missouri Dandy Pantry, 212 Hammons Drive East,
    Stockton, Missouri 65785.

The article includes recipes for Black Walnut Chocolate Applesauce Cake,
Black Walnut Gingerbread, Iowa Black Walnut Ice Cream, Black Walnut
Carrot Cake, My Favorite Black Walnut Cake, Creamy Coffee Icing
(uses black walnut flavoring), Chocolate Walnut Fudge & Black Walnut
Pie. If anyone would like a copy of the recipes just send me your
    address...

Some of these recipes are from a cookbook titled Walnut_Winners
which is "...a collection of award-winning recipes from twenty-five
years of the West Virginia black Walnut Festival baking competition.
Copies may be obtained from The West Virginia Black Walnut Festival,
P.O. Box 77, Spencer, WV 25276. Price is $5 per copy, plus 50 cents
    mailing cost...".

    Hope this helps .....
