276.0. "Chinese style ribs" by VENTUR::GIUNTA () Tue Jun 17 1986 16:15

I had some Chinese style ribs that my cousin made at last week which
were absolutely delicious. If anyone else has recipes for barbecued
or Chinese style ribs, please post them here as I'm always ready
    to try something new!

    			Chinese Style Ribs

    2 - 3 lbs. baby back ribs
    1/3 cup soy sauce
    1/3 cup honey
    3 Tablespoons white vinegar
    2 Tablespoons cooking sherry
    1 Tablespoon ginger
    3 cloves chopped garlic
    1 1/2 cups beef broth

Mix all ingredients and stir well. Add ribs and marinate at least
3 hours. Place ribs on rack in roasting pan and bake at 350 for
1 - 1 1/2 hours til brown and crispy. Baste often.

Although this isn't a chinese style rib recipe, it's a really simple
    one for barbeque ribs.

    			BARBEQUE SPARERIBS II

2 sides of pork ribs halved lengthwise
    1 quart Cola
    1/2 cup soy sauce
    1/2 cup Cream Sherry

Combine the liquid ingredients to make a marinade and pour over
the ribs. Let stand 2 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50
minutes, basting frequently until the ribs are shiny and crisp.

    See easy, no?

    SWEET CHINESE STYLE RIBS

Here is a recipy my mother used to make when we were kids. Finger
    liking good ribs!!!!!!

This is the way I make them. I cut my ribs up or seperate them. Then
I wash them, then I put in a pot. Now I measure enough water just to
cover, usually about 2 cups of water per pound. Then I use double of the
amount of water in brown sugar example: if I use 4 cups of Water
then I need 2 cups of Brown Sugar, lots of crushed garlic about 4
cloves and about 1/4cup of soya sauce (if your soya sauce is light
in color you might need more)

Then you simmer for about 2 to 2 and one half hours on medium low with
the lid open a bit. Or until desired thickeness. Usually the meat
starts to fall of the bone.

    Enjoy

When I worked in a supermarket back as a teenager, we used to provide
barbequed chicken and ribs coated in Ah-So sauce. I believe that this
is exactly what you are looking for.

Many years ago while I was still in college I had a part time job as a
waitress at a Chinese restaurant in Worcester. It was interesting, but
ended on a sad note with a conflict with the boss' wife. I still think
she was a witch... and this is so many years later!

Anyway, that restaurant does market their various sauces. Just check
out your Specialty Foods section in your local supermarket. Since they
weren't very nice to me - a college kid trying to work hard as a
waitress - I won't give 'em any free advertising! But for those of you
who live in the area, you might be able to figure out which product I'm
    talking about!
