| | For milk she can use the non-dairy cream in the frozen foods section and
dilute it to milk consistency. As for eggs....I can't have whole eggs,
but egg whites or O.K. for me. That allows me to have *angel food cake.
When not frosted *strawberry short cake with cool-whip. If your wife can
have the whites that will hold things together, but from experience it's
bland. There is a product called egg-beaters in the frozen food area and
1/4 cup = 1 egg. When I get desperate for egg(which I love)I have one of
those. If I keep the urge down they don't seem to brother me.

| | Most granola-bar type confections don't have milk/eggs.
Baklava doesn't either. Neither do pies.
There are some specialty cookbooks which cater to people with allergies.
Most low-cholesterol cookbooks provide eggless recipes.

| | Baklava usually has lots of butter, though, which can be a problem (and
tastes inferior if you use margarine instead).

| | I thought we'd continue this allergy note with discussion
of common food allergies and sensitivities, and possibly
    alternatives.
As a very sensitive migraine suffer, food plays a very important
role in whether or not I get one. It is one of the key triggers in
my case (although I know others who DO NOT have to watch their diets
    to avoid migraines).
The following is a list of things that MAY effect me, depending on
other factors such as regularity of sleeping and eating times, weather
conditions, cigarette smoke, stress, lack of oxygen (often a problem
    in closed office buildings).

    Forbidden list:
       - Red Wine
       - aged cheeses (melting them is worse)
       - cherries
       - donuts

Danger list: (sometimes these things do not affect me, sometimes they
                  can).
    - alcohol
    - chocolate
    - prepared foods like cold-cuts, sausages
    - nuts
    - heavily fried foods

Other foods that can effect migraine suffers include MSG (I've seen
    no correlation myself).

In this light, one can almost consider this a food allergy. If you
are inviting someone to dinner who suffers from migraines. you may
want to ask them about their danger foods (if any) first. I remember
a memorable dinner in which I had sherry, raclette (melted aged cheese,
proscutto ham) and chocolate mousse for dessert. My husband kept on
glancing over at me to see when I would self destruct. Miraculously,
    I did NOT get sick!

| | Monica,
I'd be suicidal if I couldn't have alcohol, (alcoholic cherries), chocolate,
cheeses or nuts. You have my heart-felt sympathy!!
I've discovered that whiskey brings me out in a rash, but I have no problems
avoiding it. :)

| | Joyce, your preserved cherries would indeed kill me - I also have a
sensitivity to Amaretto in particular. I do enjoy chocolate on occasion
(I like it like everyone else!) but it has an element of DANGER
    attached to it.
Of course now that I am pregnant they say I should avoid liver,
alcohol, caffeine, and last pregnancy they discovered I had gallstones,
so I have to avoid rich and/or spicy foods .......8-). My husband is
considering feeding me porridge for the rest of the pregnancy!!

P.S. I DO eat apples though, at least 2 a day......

| | Those who suffer from migraines should also avoid yeasty breads.
    And beer.
