159.0. "PEACH" by SPMFG1::CUZZONES () Mon Aug 12 1985 11:27

I just got back from South Carolina and have a basket full of fresh peaches.
I would like to find a peach dessert recipe. The sweeter, the better. Any
favorites out there ?

I expect it's too late for your batch of peaches, but you might try a
peach mousse some day. I had one at a local restaurant and promptly went
home and looked it up in "Joy of Cooking"; sure enough, they have a general-
purpose recipe for such things, and I plan to try it out one of these days.

My other favorite thing to do with peaches is to simply eat them; out of
hand, peeled and sliced, with or without cream... a peach is a lovely thing!

    If your still with DEC, your peaches would be petrified. But an old
    recipe that my mom always made was a peach and fresh raspberry pie,
    we always topped it with black-raspberry ice cream. I know that
    doesn't sound like a great combination, but it sure tasted good.

159.3Fresh Peach Dumplings with Vanilla SauceJARETH::DIBONAThu Dec 05 1991 13:2510
Without the actual proportions, I can tell you about a recipe I found in
Cooking Light magazine called Peach Dumplings. It's a pastry square filled
with two peach quarters and a sprinkling of brown sugar and butter, folded into
a four-sided "pouch" and baked until the juices run out and carmelize the sugar.
Topped with a light whipped cream, ice cream, or the vanilla sauce the recipe
includes, makes a light, delicious dessert. My family went *wild* for these!
I can fresh peaches from a local orchard in Hollis, NH, every fall so that I
can make this dessert all year long!
