43.0. "PEANUT BUTTER LOVER...LOOK!" by FDCV02::REGAN () Thu Nov 08 1984 20:07

ZZ
I'm not all that familiar with the editor in notes so pass over all my mistakes...

This recipe was given to me by one of the best cooks in the business, and has
turned out to be one of the most popular items on any simple home-style menu.

Here we go...

Ingred...

2 sticks margarine
1 3/4 cup of graham crackers. (ONE of the inner wrapped packets in a box)
DON't use the HONEY flavored brands, just plain graham crackers...
1 cup crunchy peanut butter
2 1/2 cups confect. sugar
1 16oz package of REAL CHOCOLATE BITS doesn't have to be the real expensive kind2 more table spoons of marg.
1 brownie pan (9x14)

Here we go some more...

Melt 2 sticks of marg. very carefully on the stove or in a Micro..
Mix Melted butter, Peanut Butter, and Confect. Sugar in a large bowl
Add to the mixture the packaet of crushed graham crackers.. Put the packet in a
freezer bag and role it with a pin or even a glass or coffee cup..
Mix the goop thoroughly..
Set the goop aside for a minute while you attempt to melt the chocolate bits
without burning them.

I've used a Microwave and a double boiler but have found that both are very
dangerous, So in either case just melt the CHOCOLATE BITS AND 2 TBLSPNS. OF
MARGARINE very slowly and very carefully.

Well , instead of leaving the Goop aside while you melt the chocalte, spread
the goop evenly (1/4-1/2inch) in the cooking pan so it is ready when the
chocolate is melted.. sorry........

I think you probably get the idea..

Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the peanut putter mix and set in
the frig for about 15 minutes .

Remove the pan and cut the hardened mixture into squares and serve generously
to people who have just started diets. Tell them that they are non-fatening
food substitutes and contain mass quantities of protein.

These things are the greatest and probably one of the easiest things to make.
(If you hussle you can make a batch in about 15 excluding the frig time.)

enjoy--

43.3Reese Chocolate recipeEXPRES::DFIELDTue Sep 29 1987 13:1719
A recipe that one of my college buddies used to make is as follows

    	  8 oz chocolate bar
    	  1 stick butter or margarine
    	  1/4 - 1/2 cup peanut butter

Melt the chocolate and butter together over very low heat.
Add 1/4 cup of peanut butter and mix well.
Pour 1/2 of mixture into a flat pan (8x8, 9x13,...)
Drop small blobs of peanut butter on pan
    		(this is the messy step)
    	Pour remaining mixture over P-butter.
    	Chill in freezer until hard.
    	Cut into squares and serve.

These are great with milk and end up tasting very close to Reeses
    candy.

Try using Waverly Wafers instead of graham crackers - you can cut
the butter down some if you do, and they are yummy!
