Does anyone have a scratch!!! recipe for Boston Cream Pie? Over here in Germany, they don't have "Betty Crocker" or anything of the like, but I'm just dying for a piece. Many Thanks Cathy

THIS ISN'T REALLY BOSTON CREAM PIE BUT IT PASSES FOR ONE IN OUR HOUSE. I ALWAYS MAKE IT FOR MY HUBBY ON HIS BIRTHDAY. MAKE A STANDARD CHOCOLATE CAKE IN TWO LAYERS. DIVIDE THE TWO LAYERS IN TWO HORIZONTALY WITH DENTAL FLOSS OR THREAD (FLOSS WORKS BETTER). SPREAD CUSTARD OR VANILLA PUDDING BETWEEN THE SPLIT LAYERS. THEN FROST THE TOP AND BETWEEN THE LAYERS. VOILA! .. \/ TAMMY

Chocolate cake for a Boston Cream Pie? I was going to suggest a simuliar solution - but the basic description is: Two thin White cakes (9" dia) vanilla pudding in between cover with choclate sauce Chocolate cake, humpf! That is almost as bad as the 'Boston Cream Pie Bunt Cake' someone told me about last week ... garrett (not 'Yum')

re .-1: No, real Boston Cream Pie doesn't call for white cake, but yellow cake. I'm talking about the kind where the yellow color comes from eggs, not FD&C Yellow #39. Vanilla custard goes between, and chocolate sauce is drizzled on top. Don. |
