| Well....partner could have Qxxx-Kxx-Axxx-QJ, which would make
the slam virtually certain. Or partner could have Qxxx-xx-AKJx-Qxx
where you need the heart finesse and something magic in clubs. By
the time you learn which king he's got, it's too late to stop.
Matchpoints, I think it's a no-brainer to stop short of slam. Imps,
I'm not sure at all. I suspect these opponents would go on to slam
so I'd shoot the slam too.

| I'd have bid 3C over 3D. Over partner's next 3-level suit bid, I bid 3N
and await the heart lead into my tenace. But I presume partner bids 4S
over 3C to show spade support and a minimum hand.
5 losers opposite 7 losers. 24 - (5 + 7) = 12 trick potential.
In a team game, you have to bid the marginal slam if you think the opps
will be there. You've got extras, and have to hope that partner doesn't
have wasted diamonds. HK would be a great card for partner to hold. I
might cue 5H instead of Blackwood to show partner we're off two minor
tricks. Let him rate his hand based on that information. If I had bid
3C, that would certianly be the thing to do, since partner would know to
rate club honors as gold.
But given the auction, partner doesn't know I have a long club suit. So
I guess I take control with Blackwood, and bid 6S over 5S.

| Here's the only one we got wrong: Playing with BB, 2/1 GF
S AKJ8x, H AQx, D x, C KTxx
Auction: (Partnership)
You open 1S, 2D
2N, 4S (weaker than 3S)
?
Partner had:
S QT9x, H xx, D KQxxx, C AJ
Slam is basically cold if DA is onside or diamond are 4-3.
I passed 4S afraid of S T9xx, H Kx, D KQJxx, C QJx when even 5S can go bait.
We lost 11 imps.
