Agree that 1N is far better than 2C. Now, even with 8-9 HCP and 5-3-3-2 or 5-4-2-2 you'd give D-pref and miss 3N or 4H game. Alternatively, he could have forced himself to reverse, ie bid 2H instead of 2C. Dont know what this would lead to, though. Here 4CM and weak NT makes it easy to open 1H on 1-4-4-4, intending to rebid 1N/1S. |
