Hello, I have a Decmailworks/UNix v2.0-1 customer . The customer has a problem forwarding messages. A user forwards a message to person A, person A receives the message with attachments, and body text. Person A forwards the message to person B who receives the headers but not the body of the message. There are no error messages, and the problem seems to occur for who ever person B is. The message orginated in from Allin1 v3.1 and travel thru the x400 gateway. Thanks Tommy Williams

1366.1 | Mix of MIME and non-MIME | TAMARA::NEUMAN::Neumann | Stan Neumann | Fri Apr 18 1997 11:36 | 23 |
Tommy - I suspect that this is WPAFB. Let me start by acknowledging we have a bug, and we're working on fixing it. By way of explanation: the problem is that the message is coming from the SMTP gateway, which is generating MIME. The received message is stored in the message store with the MIME version tag. When the message is then forwarded using UUEncoding, the MIME version tag is kept on the inner message, and that is a contradiction in terms (it can't be both MIME and non-MIME at the same time!) Unfortunately, they can't turn on MIME in general because of other mail systems that don't understand MIME (but then how can other mail systems read the mail that comes from ALL-IN-1? Don't ask me, I just work here :-) We hope to get this fixed sometime soon. -Stan |
