1343.0. "new mail notification database on server" by TKTV20::YAMAMOTO () Mon Feb 03 1997 07:20
Hello,
I have a question about new mail notification.
MAilWorks for OSF/1 V1.7A
TeamLinks V2.5 WIN95
From P.107 the book "WORKING with TEAMLINKS".
but MailWorks for OSF/1 does not use a persistent databese at all,
storing notification information as attributes of a user established
when they connect to the server.
For this reason it's important that users who connect to MailWorks for
OSF/1 servers turn mail notification on each time that they connect to
the server.
Otherwise notifications will never be sent to the PC .
Information Manager makes it easy to turn notifications on in this manner
by allowing users to check some boxes in the New Mail Notificaiion....
Is this mean that I must check "enable on connection to mail service"
to get a new mail notification ?
For examples,
1. Run teamlinks and Connect server.
2. Execute "New Mail Notification" from option.
3. Check "Enable on each connection to mail service"
4. Not check "Disable when disconnecting from mail service"
5. Exit teamlinks.
After exit teamlinks :
a) Do the entry remain in the notification database?
b) If so, with executing only newmail.exe without executing teamlinks
on the same PC, can I receive a new mail notification?
best regards,
masako
