MAILWorks UNIX V1.7A Customer would like to know if it is possible to change the filename on an outgoing uuencoded attachment. Am I right in saying that the filename of the attachment is preserved in MAILWorks V2.0? As a matter of interest what is the default filename? Is it Enclosurenn? where nn is a number? Thanks for your help Regards Jill

Well, good question... this is how it works today: - If sendMime=TRUE we will pass the filename of any attachements via the "name=" field. Once RFC 1806 matures from being experimental we will implement that. - We do not carry filenames via uuencode. We could do that, but I would encourage customers to use MIME. - In the X.400 case we also support FTBP so filenames can be carried along with X.400 messages.
1341.2 | No default filenames for X.400 messages | KOALA::PAWELKO | Mon Feb 03 1997 10:00 | 14
Hello Jill, For X.400 messages, no default attachment names are used. One exception is an RTF cover memo, which will be given the name "cover.rtf" so that an Exchange user can tell it's a cover memo. For the MIME case, I believe the default filename is "dmw" plus the proper extension, e.g. "dmw.doc" or "dmw.txt". Hope this helps, Mary |
