    Best 2 teams of the tournament so far...and we've seen 12...

    The Portuguese style is a joy to watch as is Denmark's swweping
    counter-attacking.

    Fairly interesting game. Maybe a point each would have been fairer on
    the night. Croatia were not the "dark horses" we were expecting
    (perhaps the second game will show more of their ability), and the Turks
    played a lot better than the 80-1 odds imply. Both teams had good build
    up play but the finishing was woeful, with both sides shooting from
    miles up the pitch at times.
    Again the ref kept things calm without having to book a teams worth of
    players - perhaps the teams have got the message now.

563.6Well they didn't prove much last night...VARESE::SACHA::IDC_BSTROh no! NOT Milan Kundera again!Wed Jun 12 1996 11:3714
    Croatia look to be one of the strongest sides on paper (Boksic, Boban,
    Suker, Prosinecki, Jarni, etc.), but the fact that this is the first
    time that they've participated in a competition might be their
    downfall. The players aren't used to being together, shutting out the
    rest of the world, and generally geeing each other up in order to
    counteract the tension that a tournament liek this inevitably brings.
    Boban and Boksic have also been carrying injuries for a while now, so
    it's no real surprise if they're not giving their best.

    Mind you, their manager certainly does his best to increase the pressure
    on the players. He was reported as saying: "We're the best team in
    Europe...now we've just got to prove it!"

Yup - Turkey unlucky not to get a point. But their final pass was abysmal and
if Suker had not had a nightmare up front Croatia could have had 4. Luckily
for them, it wasn't him put through at the end - he'd have missed.

    Croatia move on to the quarters after demolishing (well from the
    highlights I saw anyway) the holders Denmark 3-0. I guess they'd
    prefer to avoid Germany in the quarters though.

    Rubbish first half... excellent second half... I was cheering on
    Croatia.. especially when Sucker tried to chip ol' Peter from the half
    way line... :->

    Croatia's second and third goals were outstanding... talk about
    pin-point crossing & passing.... the pass for the third goal was
    outstanding... right across the pitch right to Suckers feet.. excellent
    stuff.... :->

    I'd fancy them to beat Italy again if they get them in the 1/4 finals.. :->

    Cheers,

    	Rick.

    Croatia seem to be becoming the force they were hyped up to be.
    Stunning attempt by Suker to do a Nayim! Even Schmeical acknowledged
    the shot...... from inside the goal!
    Any team should be a little worried about meeting them in future games.

    Perhaps 3 - 0 was a little unrepresentative of the overall game.

    P.S Why is the cliche about games of two halves becoming so often thew
    case? Just about every game I have watched this has been the case.
