FIFA ranking is based on results of international A match.
So, if the team does not play international A match, rank of
the team goes down and down.

| The thing to bear in mind with these rankings is that they count for
*compettitve* results only. England are playing friendlies so their
results don't count. The rankings are thus a complete and utter waste
of time and are useful only to those who like to knock the England
team.
Has anyone got the up to date list?

It can't be just competitive games that count 'cos in that case
England would have fallen off the edge having not played in a
competition for yonks. And I would argue that they didn't play much in
their last competition either.
Mind you that Stanley Matthews chappie shows a lot of promise ...

| Anyone know where the Aussies are on the list??
You Poms may take the piss, but I will bet any of you that we finish ahead
of you in the '98 world cup in France. If Ireland can do it then anyone
can.
In fact if I was you lot, I'd get down to one of those betting shops
you have over there and get the odds on them getting to the 1/4 finals.
If we don't qualify this time then there'll be the 4th ranked team in
Asia there. This much fairer qualification system is in place because of
the increase of teams to 32, so no more being cheated by FIFA and having to
play the Argies as the last step.

Australia are 49th, just behind N. Ireland and ahead of Wales
I'm surprised England are so high. I would have put countries like
Croatia and possibly Turkey ahead of them on current form.

| G'day Stuart,
No, this is a reference to the mighty BULLDOGS Sydney Rugby League side
who are the current premiers as you probably noticed when you were here
in September.
But if you want to mention EVERTON's great victory over the scum again
then feel free to mention it.
Oh, BTW, I suppose you will want to talk about the cricket now, will
you?
Or maybe the international Rugby League??
Yours happily,
Ica

don't think so, I think that was Sweden.
These lists are compiled every quarter I think, so they cover the games since
the Euro-qualifying finished.
