Tickets for games in Connecticut should be available the CJSA
which is located in New Britain (as I remember) and probably
why the game is being played there - I went through them last
year for USA-Greece and Italy-Costa Rica games which were played
at the Yale Bowl. If there is any difficulty contacting them,
certainly MYSA (508-486-0516) could give you the correct
    	information.

    Saturday, July 29, 1995
    Foley Stadium, Worcester
    Australia 0 - 2 Norway
    Attendance: 1,010
    - Too hot to play soccer. The run of play was more like 0-20. Norway
was clearly superior, but great goalkeeping by Australia kept it close.
While talking with the Australian coach earlier in the week he said
that 0-6 would not be bad for his team, so the Australian women were
reasonably pleased. They boarded a bus to Rutgers Sunday morning with
a practice scheduled in the afternoon. No vacation in America.

    Sunday, July 30, 1995
    New Britain, CT
    United States 9 - 0 Chinese Taipei
    Attendance: 3,782
    - Akers played, as a sub, and scored two goals in the last 20 minutes.
Venturini had a hat-trick, Hamm 2, Debbie Keller and Carla Overbeck had
one each. Mary Harvey got the shutout.

    Coming up:
Wed. Aug. 2 Philadelphia, PA 7:30 PM Norway v. Chinese Taipei
Thu. Aug. 3 Rutgers, NJ 7:30 PM Australia v. USA

8/6/95 Norway 1 - USA 2 at RFK Stadium, Washington, DC

Norway-USA drew over 7,000 fans, breaking our record from last year's
Chiquita Cup match at Holy Cross. These women deserve 70,000 spectators.
I haven't seen the tape, but I read on the net that Norway played a
similar game to that played by Australia - whack Mia Hamm before she
beats you. Norway scored first, Mia answered, and the result was
decided in sudden-death overtime with a goal by a first time USA player
(whose name escapes me). Monday's USA Today had a great shot of Hamm
and Norway's Peterson (sp), their goal-scorer, battling for a ball.
That picture would make a great poster.

SportsChannel New England is supposed to broadcast the Norway-USA match
    on Saturday at 1 PM.

In USA v Australia the US played a somewhat sloppy game.
Australia was tenacious, with the score 3-2 at the half. Hamm
had two, Akers one and Lilly had the first.

Australia's goals were scored by Angela Ianotta and Lisa Cassagrande.
Great pass by Lizzie Claydon to set up Cassagrande's goal. Too bad
Angie got tossed in the second half for a clumsy tackle on Hamm. Looked
like she and Hamm stumbled as Hamm was losing the ball on a move. It
did not look bad on TV, especially compared to the thumping Furman was
    giving the US players.

Australia's GK, Claire Nichols, did an excellent job under much pressure.
Her quickness and agility is surprising given her physical size and shape.
Is this PC? :-) Having met Claire and seen her play against Norway, I
was not surprised. She had over 20 saves in that game. She had a good
hand on Lilly's goal (the first) but couldn't push it wide enough and
Hamm's last goal was essentially an open net on an exhausted Aussie
defense which had kept the US scoreless for over 30 minutes despite
    being shorthanded.

Anybody see a score for Aus.-C.T?
