| I assume that this is because football is now a "profession", and limiting
players from playing due to their nationality is restriction of trade, or even
racism. It's about time they sorted this crap out, because we'll never know who
the best team in the world/Europe is until all teams are allowed their
full-strength outfits. (IMO)

| I don't think anything has changed. UEFA do not prevent any team from
employing anyone. Therefore no restriction of free movement between
member states. What they do is limit the number to be played in any
one game. A subtlety perhaps but this is how they got round the ruling
last time.
Or has Europe a law about what work people are employed to do ?

A valid question. I think most countries has some kind of regulation
concerning this.
I have always wondered how the trade legislators want to clamp down on
rules for foreigners playing club football, but don't find anything to
complain about when it comes to national teams, where *no* foreigners
are allowed (except for the Irish team of course)
After all, from a legislators point of view, there can't be any
difference between playing football for money and playing football for
money. Or can it?
These lawyers should stick to doing what they're good at, counting
money.

According to Sky last night, the birth certificate had turned up.
Apparently, Frankenstein was conducting experiments in the Valleys at

| According to the "Daily Welsh stereotype herald" Vinny Jones has turned out to
be the result of some bizzare experiment involving a lump of coal, Shirley
Bassey, Harry Secombe, Shakin' Stevens and an angry ram on heat.
This cross-breed is apparently known as a c**t, it's latin name being Playus
likus moronicus.

| Wonder what odds Ladbrokes will be offering for him to get sent off on
his international debut. I would think anything better than evens (or
should that be evans?) would be a tad generous

| I'd love to post the complete ruling but I threw out last wednesday's "Irish
Times" in which it was printed .
Maybe there's something on the Internet. As I said the whole ruling stems from
an action taken by a Dutch Player, Bosman, who was transfered from a Dutch to a
French club. There was a contractual dispute between clubs and Bosman argued
that his legal right to pursue his profession was being impeeded. The case was
brought before the European courts where the ruling was made on the 3 Foreigner
restriction. The article didn't mention any consequences other than the fine for
UEFA .

for FC Liege and was not allowed a transfer to a French team and never
played football again (professionally) to my knowledge ?
