| Somebody decided to create a "new" football conference on node
TRUCKS ( no names no packdrill ). What we now need is someone with
privs on TRUCKS to either;
a/ remove the offending file
or
b/ rename TRUCKS::FOOTBALL.NOTE to
TRUCKS::MAYBE_SOMEONE_SHOULD_LOOK_AT_THE_SECURITY_ON_NOTES$LIBRARY_
ON_THIS_NODE_BEFORE_IT_HAPPENS_AGAIN
I wouldn't like to see the creation of conferences like UK_POSTCODES
popping up all over the place.
Heres to the 20th,
Stuart

I seem to remember Goldy having access to TRUCKS::SYSTEM

I dunno if this is the right place to enter this but we'll go for it.
I get a big problem with some replies when lines are longer than 80
characters there is no autowrap, and I always miss the ending of these
lines. Often I can guess what the ends of the lines are but sometimes I
can't, and I end up not understanding what the note is about. Do any of
you technical bods out there know what causes this, and is there any
way of correcting it at my end i.e. SET AUTOWRAP or some other option ?

| It's cos alot of us use DECwindows notes now which has a greater line
length than the traditional 80 characters.
I don't believe there is a workaround for you other than for you
to use windows or us to be more careful.
The following line is more than 80 characters generated from windows notes
which should confirm what I've just said hopefully.

So, Si, I see.
What is your maximimum line length now ? If it is not much greater
than 80 I can probably live with it, otherwise I may need some help on
booting up a windows version of notes. (I have a common or garden
lesser spotted DEC workstation btw.)

| Malc,
If you can't be bothered with the totally tedious DW interface, you can always
use the editor to read and wrap - type REPLY, wrap the contents, and Quit - or
indeed reply, as you often do!

I can't seem to make the Decwindows thing work, there must be some
sort of override somewhere which is blocking it. However I have seen it
before and didn't like it very much so I'll stick with the character
cell version and try this 'read and wrap' idea. I've found out that
EXTRACT will extract a full size file so I can use that in extremis.
Grahame
I agree the DW version is a pain in the neck and I will try your
suggestion but ...

Now this wouldn't happen to be some sort of sly dig, would it ? Moving
to Zurich and skulking away over there behind a daft node name will not
save you from a verbal clogging should the situation merit it. Don't
mess with me, big boy !

| Hi Malc,
No, of course it wasn't a sly dig - your notes are always a joy to read and
brighten up my skulking-filled days. Please continue.
(STILL not a sly dig!)

| Well, it certainly wasn't me - though I heard my agent was last heard
somewhere in Scandinavia . . .
One of the entertaining things about being here is that the paper always
reports on how "Marc Hottiger's Newcastle" got on.
