392.0. "World Cup quiz" by BONKIN::BOYLE (Tony. Melbourne, Australia) Mon Jun 13 1994 10:51

    Anyone like to help me out with a few questions in the local newspaper
    and help me win a couple of videos?

    Q1. Which English goalkeeper made a legendary save from a Pele header
    in 1970?
    My guess: Gordon Banks

    Q2. Against which country did Maradonna score the "Hand of God" goal?
    My guess: England

    Q3. In which country was the 1982 world cup held?
    My guess: Spain

    Q4. Who scored the the winning goal for W. Germany in the 1974 final
    against Holland?
    My guess: Franz Beckenbauer

    Q5. Who was brought down for the penalty that ultimately gave Germany
    the 1990 world cup?
    My guess: no idea.

    Thanks

    Tony.

    The answer to Q5 had to be Klinnsmann,I doubt if the referees will
    be fooled by his antics at this years World Cup.

392.3Fearing the worst on this one...GYMAC::DCASSIDYMon Jun 13 1994 11:535

    I'm afraid the referees WILL be fooled by Klinsmann and others who will
    make use of the 'tackle from behind' to gain free kicks.

    Dezzz.
392.4Was it really Klinsmann?STKOFF::SPERSSONPas de problemeMon Jun 13 1994 13:557

    It's just that I seem to remember that it was Vller. But I've been
    wrong before...

392.5The answer is Voeller....KBOMFG::TANNERMidnight is where the day begins..Mon Jun 13 1994 14:328
  Dezz and all the rest the player taken down was Rudi Voeller. It was a harsh
decision but before that Klaus Augenthaler was taken down ant that was a blatant
penalty..

                                        he who remembers well.......

    It was Voeller they kicked to give away the penalty but Klinsmann still
    dived for it.

Wasn't it Klinsman that got the Argentinian sent off with his Dying Swan act.
I don't think he got a Penalty for that though.

Peter.

Then again , I've been known to be wrong.

     Re the penalty in the last final.....

    On CNN text it mentions the Argentinian defender's comments on when
    he brought down 'Klinsmann'....

    I only mention it 'just' in case any of you noters get taken to the
    cleaners in the usual 'friendly' bets that happen around this time of
    the year..!!!

    Dezzz.
392.16Dezz it wasn't Klinsmann........KBOMFG::TANNERMidnight is where the day begins..Wed Jun 22 1994 15:415

    Only one of the games in England's group in the 1966 World Cup finals
    was NOT played at Wembalee. Where was it played, who was playing, and
    what was the score?
