372.0. "1994 Dec 5-A-Side Tournament" by SUBURB::ABSOLOMT (Aye Karumba) Tue Apr 26 1994 18:57

Due to my heart-breaking knee injury I will not be participating in
    this years tourney.

However, due to the sensational sacking of Linda Lack I am organising
    this years event.

It's at Holme Park as usual, on June 4th. Hopefully you should have all
had a mail giving you details. A selected few will shortly receive a
few posters which I would be grateful if you'd be kind enough to pin-up
    prominently.

I don't want to hear of any of you ::FOOTBALL noters not attending. Get
    your teams in.

This note is to discuss teams, tactics, terrorist activities and the
    terrible tonking your team got.

    Al,

we're not quite DEC Park, but we play 5-a-side regularly every
Thursday lunchtime and would be glad to give you a game. We have a
couple of good outdoor pitches to choose from (+ grass) and the
    changing facilities are comfortable.

I tried to fix up a game with Dec Zrich but they weren't interested
in coming all the way to us or competent enough to arrange a pitch at
home, inspite of the fact that we were willing to travel!

Out of a squad of 6 only two were left standing with 2 minutes of the last game

Seriously, my thanks to Tony for organising the event. But I'm

I think the world should know about the team, MADGE, and their empty
    promises and broken deals.

In a "Swindon/Lou Macari" style deal my team agreed to win by at least
two goals to ensure they qualified. In return we would get a team photo
of the "Whipping Boys" plus the negative.

    They have never arrived.

If anyone knows of the members of this evil posse of lowlifes, let me,
or the local constabulary's hot-line 7830-2924, know straight away.

    A spiritual reward is offered.

    Gentlemen,

I have a box of items left behind at Holme Park after this year's
    5-a-side tourny.  Items include ;

    1 x Towel
    1 x Astroturf trainers
    1 x Trainers
    2 x Shinpads
    2 x Pliers (!!)
    1 x Antifreeze tester (!!!!!!)
Assorted pens & papers (probably junk)

Give me a call if you think there is something of yours, give me an
accurate description (I'll be the judge, there's a few decent articles
in there !) and I will release them.

    All,

We're trying to guage support for a small tournament this year, the
timeframe is the last two weeks in August.

The location will be just north of Reading and it will follow the same
style as last year's tournament. Adwest is no longer available to us,
but a proposed location, with less facilities, has been offered. There
are four 5-a side pitches and there will be a beer tent and limited
changing facilities, and two pubs close by.

Please can prospective captains indicate their interest by replying
here. If / When there is a sufficient number of teams we will go ahead
and book the pitches and organise all the other important things -
trophies, referees, goals, oh and a set of wooden spoons for the "Tony
    Addams Select Five".

We need to know numbers and preffered date by 28th July.

    -John.
