Thank You for answering

To Tottenham - Southampton:

- Are there any problems to buy tickets on the same day ?
- why is this a relegation battle ?

Thanks, Heribert

Tottenham are having a bad run of form at the moment 3pts from 21 in their last
7 games, and they have lost the last 5/6 in a row at home.

Southampton have been down in the bottom since the beginning, but are on looking
like improving since Alan Ball became manager. They've won 3 of their last 4
games.

This game will not be all ticket and you will be able to get a seat on
the day of the game. If you want to be sure you can ring the ticket office
when you get over here on 081 808 3030 or the Dial a Seat service on 081

Jack, You don't know the Austrian football

I think, a game Tottenham - Southampton should be more interesting
than a game between our 1st and 2nd of the Premier League.

    G'day FWIW,
As an outsider who's been to the 3 grounds mentioned, I'd be going
to Upton Park to see West Ham V. Liverpool. Secondly, I'd be going to
White Hart Lane to see Spurs, then any other match, and lastly
Chelsea/Leeds. I went to this match in '84 with a Leeds supporter,
Chelsea won 5-0, the pitch was invaded and we had rocks thrown at us by
the Chelsea fans. Has this situation been fixed?

I cant think of the last time Chelsea supporters caused any trouble
home or away, infact 1984 against Leeds was the last occasion.
Cardiff are the team that cause all the trouble now.

Chelsea supporters are now some of the best supporters around and
an example to others who have hooligan problem. And I'm sure if
we play West ham in the semi finals of the cup that we can all drink
in the same pubs and have a jolly good old knee's up together.

355.19Chelsea - LeedsVNOTSC::HERIBERTFri Apr 29 1994 16:1350
Thank You for all Your informations.

I have seen on last weekend the match Chelsea against Leeds United.

Let's tell You my impressions from this game. I have wanted to see
the differents from an Austrian game or an German game (which we see on our
TV every weekend) to the famous English games.

Now I have to say, there is a difference, this was a great impression.
THe atmosphere of an English stadium (Stamford is not so comfortable than our
stadiums, but more familiar) is a good one, only the tickets are very
expensive (a seatplace for non members : 25 - 30 Pounds)

Leeds have been the better team, but Chelsea has shown great performance.
This was the well known kick and rush of English football.

I was fascinated from the Nr. 6 of Chelsea - Frank Sinclair. His performance
and technic has been great.

Leeds worked very well together, they had been a compact team. But I must say,
the Number 20 of Leeds - Kevin Sharp - is called in the Austrian slang a
"Kretzn". (not a fair player, with many ugly fouls).
The Scotish forward - Gary McAllister - had been one of the better players
three days before (Austria - Scotland), but in this game he was one of the
bad ones.

The result 1:1 was a correct one, this had been a hard, but fair play (except
Leeds' Sharp).

If I take this game as comparison to an Austrian football game, I have seen
those differents:

- The English "kick and rush" is more interesting than Germans tactical playing.

- English football is very hard, but always with fairness

- The spectators has more discipline than all on the continent thinks (not such
as Austrian and Germans - (offending and hissing the adversary). -
congratulations to the Chelsea fans.

- The 90 minutes passed away like a flight.

- The only point, I think to be better in Austrian football (confirmed
on English games in our TVs): the goalkeepers.

In autumn I will be in Newcastle by a friend of mine, I'll visit any
Newcastly game - I'll enjoy this match.

>- The only point, I think to be better in Austrian football (confirmed

This is a good point - there has been a severe decline from the seventies
and eighties when British ( well, apart from Scottish ) goalkeepers were
    the best in the World
e.g. Banks, Jennings, Clemence, Shilton, Southall etc.

Now, a large number of premiership teams have foreign goalkeepers
e.g. Schmeical, Thorsvedt, Kharin, Steyskal, Srinicek, Segers ( any
    others ) ?

355.21VNOTSC::HERIBERTFri Apr 29 1994 16:4211
Terry

The only Austrian keepers in Europe All Star Teams (against America, Japan, etc)
(except Krankl and Prohaska) has been Austrian goalkeepers (such as Koncilia9
and in this UEFA Cup the best goalkeeper from international newspapers
has named Otto Konrad (Austria Salzburg).

Austrian goalkeepers (Koncilia,Baumgartner,Konrad) has played by French teams,
Netherlands, Germans,etc.

    Hi,

can anyone give me the exactly date and kick off time of the games

    	West Ham v Coventry
    	Charlton v Portsmouth
    	Crystal Palace v Luton ?

I only have the fixture guide printed before season starts.
In the guide the games dated on 26 dec, kick off 3.00, but I think
it could be possible that the fixtures were postponed.
